R.I.P. "Good Day Live" 2001 - 2005
Well, today was the very last show...apparently Arthel and Debbie just couldn't fill Dorothy's shoes or Jillian's rack. Whether you found it obnoxious or entertaining--it was unique.
"Good Day L.A." lives on...but it's not nationally syndicated. :( |
I really enjoyed this went it first went national, but I eventually grew tired of Jillian. As bad as Jillian got though, I can't believe how bad of replacements they got. Those 2 were never worth watching at all. Dorothy could also be annoying, but I found her really attractive and I liked that she talked about TV shows she liked.
|
I only saw it once, when I was stuck in the waiting room of an auto repair shop.
But i'm glad it's gone. It's like you live in Indiana and they catch a serial killer in Florida. It never really effected you, but you still feel a sense of relief. |

It comes on at noon here, but so does Ed. And since i'm capping Ed, I couldn't set my ReplayTV to record it. A local channel used to show it at 2a, but after this thread reminded me, I went to schedule it to record and it wasn't on. Did anything significant happen [like Dorothy or Jillian pop up]? My one claim to fame was that they read an email I sent when Constance Marie was filling in last summer. It was basically all about how hot she was. The restraining order should end this summer.. |
This show was like nails on a chalkboard, but any work day I was at home, it still beat the Jerry Springer-ish competition; any idea why it was cancelled since, at the end of the broadcast, during the cake-cutting, Steve mentioned they were going out with their highest ratings ever?
|
^^I think that was a joke by him...or him stating that although the ratings were low, people will still tune in for the finale.
I thought the show went down when Dorothy and Jillian left...and I don't even know why they left, anyone know? Both of them had their issues, but were much better than Debbie and Arthel... Although I didn't like the show as much when they made over the cast...I still enjoyed it overall. It was goofy, fun news programming you don't get anywhere else--not even ET or Access Hollywood really. I also liked how the girls' liberal views would sometimes clash with Steve's old timer conservative views. And I liked little things about the show in general. Didn't take itself seriously. You'd see the cameraman turn the camera and we'd see all the other cameras taping the show and the control room. Steve would be on the set asking a question, and suddenly the director's voice would come on explaining a situation or answering a question. I like stuff like that and you don't get it elsewhere. |
The only reason I've ever watched it was for Jillian. I think they lost a lot of fans when they got rid of her. I've flipped on it for a few seconds. I couldn't stand any of the other woman co-hosts. That old guy is sort of funny sometimes. That's hollywood for yea.

I turned it off and forgot all about it when I couldn't see Jillian walkin' her fine ass over to the weather board to do the weather and/or the Style thing.

true dat. Although I'm sure they like Steve and don't wish him any bad vibes, I'll bet it must be cool to see a show you got fired off of take a dive. |
For you guys in LA or Cali...can you come here and post on Monday if Jillian or Dorothy mention anything about the death of Good Day Live on Good Day L.A?
If so, thanks. |
This was a damn good show and it will be missed! Yeah, someone tell us what Jillian/Dorothy say on their show.
|
How long was it know that this was getting cancelled? Because on Friday they mentioned that Arthel was going over to the new A Current Affair which starts on Monday.
|
For like 2-3 weeks..

As both of them (Quiban and Sanchez) are the "anchors" of UPN's news, are they owned by the same parent company or something?
|
Jill is so freaking hot

Channel 2 and Kcal 9 are also owned by the same company(unrelated to UPN and FOX 11) and they do plenty of cross promotion. I guess LA's tv stations are becomeing a monopoly |
I too missed Jillian when she left. Not for the same reasons as you guys. She was like the cool buddy you could talk about movies and shopping and stuff. I loved her frantic banter. She would say things that you were actually thinking and wasn't all stuffy.
The show will be missed. |
