South Park (3/16/05)

This season is looking very promising. 2 good episodes in a row so far.

Cartman's sneeze-face had me

Scotts35 03-16-05 09:24 PM

"Damnit my son is in there" What the hell is that from?

Lateralus 03-16-05 09:30 PM

Damn, that was funny. I thought the mayor was dead, but she is still alive. :(

Snowmaker 03-16-05 09:35 PM

Slayer saves the day! I love it! I was jammin' away.

Brain Stew 03-16-05 09:42 PM

Pretty funny. Not perfect, but decent.

i agree. and the mayor coming back after shooting her self in the head was pretty good too

necros 03-16-05 09:55 PM

that was damn funny .. raining blood was perfect too :)

They really really REALLY hate Michael Bay don't they? :)

Charlie Goose 03-16-05 10:18 PM

Very funny. Cartman in full psycho mode doing the Armageddon/Core/Etc. bit.

I would think Stan's parents are way too young to have been at Woodstock. They would have to be in their early Fifties now, at least.

paulringodaman 03-16-05 10:29 PM

Hahah super good episode.

I loved how Chef got volunteered due to being black. Also, the end seen with the Tonka truck.........hahahahha!

Know-it-all college hippy! Way to stick it to The Man, brah.

"Wait till they hear this crunchy groove."

MrX 03-16-05 11:54 PM

meh

Maybe I was expecting to much but I only had a couple of laughs. The scene at the end with Cartman, Kyle, and the tractor being the best.

Trigger 03-17-05 12:21 AM

I know it's my fault for opening the thread before watching the show, but spoilers galore - yeouch.

MasterCXtreme 03-17-05 01:58 AM

Damn funny episode, I thought. Especially after last week's. It had a little Team America/Anti-MichaelBay thing going on again... but it worked great with the hippies. Cartman rocks.

Chew 03-17-05 05:58 AM

The sneeze rotfl

It picked up as it went along, but was pretty slow to get going in the laughs-department.

MovieExchange 03-17-05 07:11 AM

Better than last week's ep, but that's pretty easy seeing as last week's show was easily the worst they've ever turned out.

I got a chuckle at the beginning, but the ep was rather stale until the Slayer part.

I've been watching the first few seasons on DVD lately, and when you do that, you realize that what they're putting out now just doesn't compare. It's not edgy anymore.

Giles 03-17-05 08:15 AM

I personally thought that this episode was kind of weak. amusing, but not great.

SFranke 03-17-05 08:52 AM

I don't usually watch South Park when it airs on cable: I usually wait for the DVDs. When did Cartman's voice change? In Season Five, Trey mentions he adds a Southern inflection to Cartman's voice. However, it now just sounds less...exaggerated and more like a normal voice.

Red Dog 03-17-05 09:05 AM

That was a very funny episode. So much better than last week.

Despite my hatred of hippies, I agree. Using Slayer to drive them away really made me laugh, though.

Gallant Pig 03-17-05 12:39 PM

I liked it, very funny. Not the best Cartman episode but better than last week's dreck.

njchris 03-17-05 12:54 PM

Wow, I thought this was the worst South Park episode I have ever seen.

sven 03-17-05 01:04 PM

I liked last weeks and this weeks. The only episode I havent liked at all is "Not Without My Anus".

Now you're just talking crazy!

The only episode I absolutely HATED and couldn't wait for it to end was last season when they had their own school TV news show.

Giles 03-17-05 02:15 PM

what was last week's episode - I somehow missed it.

TheMadMonk 03-17-05 02:18 PM

Mr. Garrison's Sex Change.

spoon81 03-17-05 03:04 PM

Not Cartman's best episode. Few, infrequent laughs. And the targets (hippies, The Core, The Polyphonic Spree) were not quite fresh.

Someone hasn't seen "Pip."

NYSoprano 03-17-05 04:09 PM

 This week
 Last week

dick_grayson 03-18-05 01:42 PM

also that commercial for that children's toy that didn't work and was so confusing was hilarious

dhmac 03-20-05 03:55 PM

I thought it was hilarious. I have some hippie-ish friends into jam bands like Widespread Panic, so this one hit pretty close to home (and definitely enhanced the humor in the episode for me).

jkenn24 03-20-05 11:11 PM

I know the whole episode was a spoof of michael bay movies but what was cartman's sneeze in reference too?

SleepyW 03-21-05 11:54 AM

There have only been 1 or 2 episodes EVER when I didn't laugh at all - this was one of them. Seemed like old rehash of other episodes and Cartman seemed way out of character. But I haven't sen many new eps from the past season, so maybe I'm missing something.

das Monkey 03-21-05 12:03 PM

I'm not sure if last season has anything to do with it, but this is perfectly in keeping with Cartman's character. The kid hates those gatdam hippies and would do anything to stop their infestation.

This and Not Without my Anus are my 2 least favorite South Parks.

But...this is the first time he was the hero of the piece.

Red Dog 03-21-05 01:14 PM

I don't think Cartman has ever been more in character than this episode. Well except maybe for when he was licking Scott Tenorman's tears and when he tried to have the Jews exterminated. ;)

das Monkey 03-21-05 01:18 PM

Groucho

Well, that's debatable. Regardless, Cartman's goal was not to be heroic, but to eradicate South Park of its hippie infestation. His motives were completely selfish as usual as witnessed in the beautiful closing scene.

I wasn't referring to his hate of hippies...which I was aware of. I meant just his overall temperment and tone. He wasn't his bitchy, whiny self, so I didn't feel like I was watching Cartman.
