Cheaters Tv Show - Right or Wrong?

I just caught the Tv Show Cheaters last night And I was thinking can't the show be sued since they don't have the other person's permission to be filmed and put on Tv. If I was cheating on my wife or girlfriend then her and some guy with a camera puts me on Tv I would be pretty Mad and want to sue. What do you think?

Here's how it works: after the filming is done, the people involved are asked to sign a waiver. If they don't sign it, their faces are blurred. Simple as that.

Isn't this the show where the host got stabbed one time? I saw it on one of those "world's wildest video" things.

I saw this on a vacation in Florida...

...it belongs there

If you are in public, tough shit. That's my thought on the matter.

Do you get any sort of compensation when signing the waiver allowing your face to be on TV...I don't know how the cheater or his/her "cheatee" would allow themselves to be on TV....Because youd be surprised, most faces are NOT blurred.

Well, that would be an incorrect thought. They always need to get waivers from people anywhere they shoot, public or not. If you watch Jackass they shoot all the time in public and many times have people's faces blurred, because they wouldn't, or couldn't get them to, sign a waiver.

Yes they get compensation. They say so on the show.

No. It is my thought i.e. my opinion. You can't tell me whether it is correct or not. ;)

How does the news do it when they film a crowd of people on the sidewalk? I'm no expert, but I always thought that you can be photographed and filmed without permission when in public.

Considering the charges that the show is faked, it may be really easy to get permissions.

I would be surprized if Joey Greco hasnt been stabbed.
he is the coolest guy, though...

I saw it awhile ago, so it's a little fuzzy. The boyfriend is on a boat with another woman, and Greco and the girlfriend pull up in a boat next to them. They confront the boyfriend and board the boat. The boyfriend gets pissed and pulls out a knife and stabs the host right in the stomach. The crew and cameramen all jumped on the guy to disarm him.

*Just found this on the IMDB:

Host, Joey Greco was stabbed while filming an episode. Despite being stabbed, he returned to the show.

Yep, I saw that one too.

This show is just odd, but sometimes captivating. And if this is not staged (beyond the admittedly staged confrontation), Greco is one fearless hombre.

A better question is why people arrested on Cops sign the waiver.

Numanoid 03-14-05 05:06 PM

Cheaters didn't start out staged, but it clearly is nowadays. Sad.

I watch it occasionally when I'm home (it comes on Saturdays at 11pm here), but rarely the whole way through if SNL is new. When Joey shows the person the footage of their "loved one" cheating, it's pretty uncomfortable to watch. The way the cameraman zooms in dramatically to get their reaction just makes it feel so exploitative. It makes good reality tv, but still...I feel kinda bad just sitting on my couch watching people get cheated on and seeing them get so upset. And yet I keep on watching this train wreck. Some of the people look like they still can't believe it even while being shown their bf or gf humping someone else.

My friend and I were rotfl at a recent episode where they caught the cheating guy half naked and wearing some type of leather bondage mask. Just seeing him try to justify what he was doing while looking like that was hilarious.

iggystar 03-14-05 06:18 PM

The show is so wrong....but oh so right. :) Just like a train wreck. And having been cheated on in the past I get a cheap thrill out of it.
