Joey - 2/17/05

Guess I'll start the thread.

The push-up bit could have been executed better but I thought it was still funny.

And the awards show goof had me laughing out loud.

A let-down for me after the last few. Some funny bits, but overall rather m'eh. I think Bobbi would've of been a good addition at Joey's table.

Okay this episode was just crap. What are these writers thinking? First of all, Joey stopped playing Dr. Drake Ramoray like season 2 ("The One Where Dr. Ramoray Dies"). They put him in a permanent coma. When Joey is rehired onto Days of Our Lives, he comes back as Jessica Lockhart via a brain transplant into Drake's body (Season 7 "The One With Joey's New Brain"). So Dr. Drake would not have been doing surgery as shown in this episode. I was hoping for some cool continuity since we never found out what happened to Jessica Lockhart on "DOOL" which allowed Joey to move to L.A. in the pilot. This just goes to show how much sloppier Joey is than Friends which went to excruciating lengths to maintain continuity throughout 10 seasons (see Monica being fat/obessive-compusive neat freak, Ross dressing up as an old lady as a child, Chandler's father/commitment issues, etc.).

All that aside, this storyline was totally weak and almost a complete rehash of two old Friends episodes (S7's "The One With Joey's Award" and S5's "The One Where Rachel Smokes" - Joey: "Mmm, noodle soup. Damnit!"). This show could be so much better if the production team only committed as much effort into it as they used to for most of Friends...

Who knows, maybe Drake's brain was kept frozen and put back so Jessica could finally be killed off and they just never showed all of it? We are talking about brain transplants here, after all.

So no - perhaps he had a 2nd transplant, but it was not Dr. Drake Ramoray...

OK, now you're just showing you have more Friends knowledge than 99.999% of the other people watching Joey. I don't even remember that line, even though I remember what you posted above.

How is this show doing in the ratings? I can only find the Nielson Top 20 online and "Joey" is never on it. Any word on it being renewed?

the exercise jokes were totally lame ...i have to agree.
The award presentation mishap was actually funny...but aside from that not much more.
Alex is very cute. Gina's slut act is very old and unfortunately can't be elaborated on.

Definitely the weakest episode so far. I was wondering too about how Joey was Dr. Drake Ramoray even though he didn't play that character anymore. As for the idiotic exercise bit, okay, Michael is supposed to be weak & puny, but he's never even seen pushups and pullups done correctly? Besides, he wasn't even doing the girly pushups right! As for the awards foul-up, there's no way that would not be corrected instantly on stage.

I actually thought this episode was really funny. The exercise stuff was kind of lame, but funny at the same time. I've never seen Drea De Mateo with her hair up and I couldn't get over how much she looked like a girl I know (or vice versa) - and I liked that. It was also really nice to see Shanna Moakler guest starring. She was my favorite actress on Pacific Blue, and she is just freaking hot. That should have her on more just so I can see her.

It got crushed by Survivor last night but that's not much of a surprise. It was winning it's slot after the last Survivor ended.

You'll know when the show is in danger becasue that's when the other five will start making guest apperances.

As for last nights episode, it was ok. Liked Alex's comment about her husband saying Gina would look great in that dress.

More than likely NBC will give it a Sophomore shot, but I'm worried for its Junior year... and I'm a Joey fan.

But this season, the can't miss sitcom for me is "Committed" on Tuesdays at 8:30 PM.

Yeah but we need to start seeing her back in short skirts and heels. They have had her in pants the last two or three episodes.
