Boston Legal -- "Till We Meat Again" -- 02.13.2005

Till We Meat Again

Spoiler:
Shirley Schmidt and Denny Crane represent a man whose steakhouse is being put out of business as the publicity-hungry mayor has pushed through an ordinance banning red meat for fear of Mad Cow disease, and in the process of trying the case, Crane wins over Schmidt's respect as an attorney. Meanwhile, what begins as an evening out for Alan Shore and Tara Wilson ends in a barroom brawl, with Shore arrested for conspiracy to commit assault and battery. And Lori and Brad serve as second chair for a new attorney Schmidt has just poached from another law firm who refers to himself as "Sexy Man."

I think you mean "muster", but you're right ... this case is certainly lacking condiments.

Seeing Alan standing there handing out C-notes to the guys' friends was great.

This was the first episode I ever saw, and this show is great. Is it always like this, or did I just catch a great episode?

Compared to the last 5-6 episodes, this one had the least laughs IMO.

Are the wheels coming off on the Alan-mobile? I thought it was hilarious that Alan would pay someone else to retaliate in a barfight situation. Of course, DEK tries to sneak in his views of the use of the military with this subplot, but again, still a bit too hamfisted.

What was up with Alan and Brad? That felt so out of character for Alan.

When Alan was mimicking Paul's "Crane, Poole and Schmidt" pronouncements, that was good for some laughs, especially when Paul goes ballistic over it.

This was good, but I can only think of one that was "worse". It is one of the few shows I can't miss.

Having said that, as much as I loved the episode, the arguments against the banning of red meat were simply terrible. I suppose it had to be bad so that the "nansy pansy" played out, but man, for top lawyers, those were the worst arguments I could imagine.

I have been so very impressed with this spinoff - the Practice had gotten so bad in the last few years that I stopped watching it, so almost didn't give the spinoff a chance. William Shatner being in the cast made me give it a chance, and what a great stroke of luck for me that I did. Every episode is hilarious - I absolutely love Denny Crane and Alan Shore - dysfunction at its finest. The snarky and sarcastic comments just crack me up every time. And the humanity that gets inserted artistically in there helps to ground the show so that the funny parts are even more funny. I love the struggle Denny has with alzheimer's (or is it mad cow disease? ) and now to see the chink in Alan's armor...fantastic.

I looove this show. I didn't even know I was a fan of James Spader until I watched it. I've always been a fan of Shatners (at least since he sang "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and a totally whacked out version of "Rocket Man" ). Anywhoo... Candice Bergen is a nice addition to the cast and I don't even mind Suanne Niven (ahem..I mean Betty White). I laugh harder during this show than any half hour sitcom. If Spader dosen't win some kind of award for this role, then their really is nooo justice.

If it wasn't for the weekly insertion of DEK political views, this would be an even higher tiered show.

I agree. I don't have a problem with some political stuff now and then, even if I don't agree with the particular philosophy, but it's the condescending way he injects things into stories where they don't really belong that gets so annoying.

I think it's done in an unrealistic way, too. I'm no judge, but if I were conducting a trial and Al Sharpton or anyone else came in and interrupted the proceedings to give a little speech, I would be ticked off rather than impressed, and someone would be going to jail.

This show never fails to have my wife and I laughing hard week in and week out. What makes it funnier is when we turn on Star Trek: TOS to fall asleep to, we can't help but think....Denny Crane. I'd have to say that Shatner has finally moved out from under the shadow of Kirk, and it's a beautiful thing to behold.
Alan handing out hundred's like they're candy was absolutely hilarious.
