Children's TV: Lazy Town

Anyone watch this with their kids?

Freakin' hilarious. Very "over the top" and corny, but man do I laugh my butt off.

My 1 year old absolutely LOVES this show - she could be causing havoc in the house, but calms down once this is on. My 3 1/2 year old boy is starting to recite the dialogue.

I'm at the point now where I am capturing all of the shows that we have Tivo'd to put onto a DVD or two.

I also find it hilarious - love the Dinosaur episode where they Ziggy is all scared of it and other fun times.

It's so sad that we watch this with the kids...

The crazy thing to me is the guy, Sportacus, does everything on that show - directs, produces, stars in.

Check it out:

I saw that. Pretty amazing. I still prefer his nemesis. That fake chin just kills me.

Finished Rotterbeard just now - already started playing the next Tivo'd episode

Looks like they have 8 episodes in rotation, while the series is already up to 35 or so.

i'm thinking Nick Jr/CBS are going to milk this one for a while

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Meth-Lab in Lazy Town. They're all on speed or something.

My kid's like this show as well, but given a choice prefer The Backyardigans. I end up hearing the damn songs in my head all day!

Haven't watched Backyardigans. Is it amusing enough for adults?

It's OK. They do sing a lot and have a catchy tune.

The Backyardigans is an animated musical-adventure series for children ages 2 to 5. In each episode, the show's five high-spirited preschool friends--Uniqua, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha, and Austin--rely on their vivid imaginations to transform their backyard into a fantastical 3-D landscape, and together they embark on amazing epic journeys.

Should we create a ***CONFIRMED - OFFICIAL NICKJR THREAD*** and make it sticky in TV Talk?

I have to say when our kids first started watching Lazy Town I hated it so much I'd leave the room. After sitting through a few episodes I am finding a LOT to laugh at, though.

The damn sound effects when Sporticus or Rotten move their arms, etc. just slays me. Especially when Rotten dressed up like Sporticus. That was a classic episode.

Is it suitable for 2 year olds? I watched an episode or two just to get a feel for it, but didn't think it would work for my son. He's into Dora, the Wiggles, and Dragon Tales mostly.
I keep him away from Barney and the Boohbahs, those guys freak me out.
But like someone said, it seems like they air the same 8-12 eps for months at a time, and it gets really old, esp when they had new eps come out last season, so we might look into branching out the old DVR's interests.

My 1 year old daughter is into Dora, Dragon Tales, Blue's Clues, Barney, Boohbah and Lazy Town.

I feel more comfortable with her watching Lazy Town than Boohbah anyday!

I have a surround sound system downstairs on the main tv and Boohbah came on the other day - I was standing in between the two rear speakers and it felt creepy hearing those creatures saying "boohbah boohbah".

I get in arguments with my 2.5 year old over whether they're saying "booooohbah" or "beeeeebah". Atleast i know i'm right since i can read. Jay Jay the Jet plane freaks me out (stop giving me nightmares, big jake!).
I remember when they were doing promos for lazytown there was an ad that had a song i kept getting stuck in my head "no one is lazy in lazy town..." then a part where the pink hair girl would come in and sig "find the beat and express yourself..".
My daughter used to love Dora, then her favorite was Oswald and now its Dragon Tales and Boohbahs.
The best thing is that there are no commercials during the episodes.

I just caught Boohbah for the first time today, about 20 minutes ago. I was watching with the sound off because I was on the phone and I was just flipping channels and I had to stop there. Wow! I had to start taping it because my boyfriend would never believe it otherwise.
