Title: "Babel One"
Written by Mike Sussman and Andre Bormanis

Spoiler:
Ordered to transport a delegation of argumentative Tellarites to a peace conference with the blue-skinned Andorians, Archer and the crew find themselves drawn into a confusing, dangerous situation when a secret Romulan vessel begins attacking ships on all sides, including Enterprise.

Should be good. Enterprise did a great job fleshing out the Andorians. Hopefully they do just as well with the Tellarites. Plus it has Brian Thompson (everyone's favorite Alien Bounty Hunter from "The X-Files") as a guest star.

Note: The title refers to the same Babel that the Enterprise was taking Sarek, Andorians, Tellarites, and other Federation officials to discuss Coridan's admission to the UFP in "Journey to Babel". Coridan was already shown on Enterprise in "Shadows of P'Jem", another Andorian/Vulcan episode.

Isn't canon fun? :)

Glad to be back to the arc stories. I've been pretty bored the last few weeks. :)

Yeah, I didn't mind the last one, but I didn't like the transporter one that much. But I guess they needed to save money since the next 8 episodes seem pretty big.

Yes! and hopefully they won't introduce any continuity errors in the process.

Spoiler:
romulans
I say they're on thin ice continuity wise right now, but we'll have to see how the episode progresses
Spoiler:
this could be what causes the Earth-Romulan war before the federation forms, and that's fine, in fact it'll be cool, but they have to remember that the Romulans were not seen

mikehunt 01-28-05 07:37 PM

that ship looks like the needler from Halo

nice, inertial dampeners obviously weren't completely functional

mikehunt 01-28-05 07:49 PM

hey dumbass, take a step back and draw your handgun, that's why you carry it

I hate the camera style on the action scenes

The Romulan confirmed that they were not operating before going into evasive manuevers.

Cool episode.

mikehunt 01-28-05 08:16 PM

and it stuck to continuity since
Spoiler:
the romulans weren't on the ship

Bandoman 01-28-05 08:18 PM

Not a bad episode. Looking forward to
Spoiler:
the four races - human, vulcan, tellarite and andorian - cooperating for the first time to stop the romuland

cdoug57 01-28-05 08:38 PM

Wow, after the last couple of episodes, I was beginning to worry. This episode seems to have been wel thought out and it didn't re-write known Federation history.

Liked the fact that they could only take out one at a time and took back the subordinates (red-shirts) leaving Trip and Macolm before the Enterprise suffered a hit that knocked out the transporter. If that is not keeping continuity, I don't what is. Really enjoyed the conversation about T'Pol between the two of them, nice personal touch.

I am looking forward to next weeks ep.

Not being a big Star Trek fan in the past, does the Federation consist of many species, or just the main 4?

Were Andorians featured in other Star Trek series?

mikehunt 01-28-05 09:04 PM

federation is "dozens of species and hundreds of worlds" if I remember the line one of the captains once said
Andorians were never done in this much detail before, or the tellarites. there was the TOS episode, and some andorians had cameos else where, like the court martial scene in ST4. But humans seem to be the most numerous single species(probably due to makeup budgets) and seem to be the only species with tons of colony worlds

edit: 150 member planets is what the ST Encyclopedia says was stated in First Contact. doesn't necessarily mean 150 species though

There are like 150 planets. The thing was that the Humans, Vulcans, Andorians, and Tellarites were the four original founders of the Federation. Unfortunately they never used the Andorians or Tellarites in any recent Trek, and didn't really do much with Vulcans except Tuvok on Voyager. It's nice to actually delve into these species who were the original structure of the Federation.

And I have to say this episode was very well done. And the ending totally surprised. I just figured they'd be hiding on either a second bridge or just somewhere else on the ship. I didn't expect them to pull back and have them actually on Romulus. That was a cool "oh crap" moment.

lisadoris 01-29-05 08:34 AM

Pretty good start to what has the potential to be a really good arc. The ending surprised me as well and helped preserve continuity. Color me surprised that there were still MACOs aboard (guess they have to have someone to wear the red shirts).

cornflakeguy 01-29-05 09:49 AM

Another good Enterprise episode.

Who is the poor Romulan in the hand controls and head gear?

Romulan Commander 1: "Lets use the remote control ship."
Romulan Commander 2: "Bring out the Gimp!"

That's what I was thinking too.

Those MACO's are almost always worthless.

das Monkey 01-29-05 12:49 PM

That was pretty darn good, especially considering how yawn-inducing the past few eps have been.

kenage 01-29-05 02:28 PM

So Trip is no longer seeing Tpol?

Deftones 01-29-05 04:07 PM

Great episode. Jeffery Combs does such a great job as Shram.

Tracer Bullet 01-29-05 04:19 PM

Pretty good episode. I like how they're actually trying to make these characters feel and act like distinct people.

This definitely feels like the precipitation of the Earth-Romulan War.

Star Trek info
Here is some nice info on star trek courtesy of Wikipedia.

The nugget of information I learned was that Nielsen ratings do not take into account the weekend rerun of the episode. I have often missed the weekday primetime showing knowing that I could catch it on saturday. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this. I am glad UPN does that...but it appears it does hurt the show when it comes to the ratings.

josepotato 01-29-05 06:01 PM

A good start to this arc I think, nice to see some Romulans again. However the preview of next week's episode didn't get me too excited.

JetSter735180 01-29-05 06:43 PM

Okay, awsome episode...I feel this is the beginning of the Romulan War...

And it does support the theore that Humans never see one Romulan in the War, because there not in the Ship...

One thing I notice...At the beginning of the season, the date was May 2154, in this episode we are Novembre 2154, thats 6 months.... Maybe they are advancing the date quicker then usual, so the last Episode of Season 7 coincides with the birth of the Federation 2159......

Because one thing that bothered me from season 1, is that they started in 2151, 9 years before the federation....but I knew they would only have 7 seasons...so we would see the last episode in 2157.....anyway....

Great episode, can't wait till next week.

The Federation wasn't founded until 2161.
