The Apprentice - 1/27

Let's get the party started:

"Motel 666"

It's Week 2 of the Book Smarts vs. the Street Smarts as they try to renovate two equally run-down motels.

According to the promos (and Mark Burnett), this is the first time a candidate quits.

 Semi-off topic, but after two-plus seasons I just have to blurt it out: Carolyn is smoking hot! A damn smart and attractive blonde; like whipped cream on the pie.

conscience 01-27-05 08:23 PM

If there are any hot women, I must be missin' it. Two of them look like reincarnations of Chyna.

Bill Needle 01-27-05 08:42 PM

Not the contestants, Trumps right-hand lass.

maingon 01-27-05 10:05 PM

theres a scene in the beginning thats funny. When it shows trump talking about how his hotel is doing. She replys We are doing great our best year yet. and he says something. this is funny because its so scripted sounding

Every damn word that comes out of his mouth is scripted. Even in the boardroom you can tell when he does a voice over. They go to the back of his head while talking and damn he sucks.

Catch 21 01-28-05 12:15 AM

Wow, those previews show who loses next week.

Patman 01-28-05 12:33 AM

These candidates suck.

jeffkjoe 01-28-05 02:13 AM

Wow. Looks like John's the only one who I'm rooting for this time around.

She was like "it's our best year ever" and he said something like "It's always our best year, you understand me?" and the look on her face after he walked away was priceless.

John-In-VA 01-28-05 07:54 AM

I wonder what really goes on behind the scenes to setup something like this. I mean come on. 48 hours to renovate a motel and have it ready for guests? Get real.

I must have missed it...what did they show (please use tags)?

superfro 01-28-05 09:57 AM

Does anyone remember Kristen from "Murder In Small Town X" from a handful of years back? It was driving me absolutely nuts last night where I knew her from, and then realized it was that show/game.

Of course, I'm not sure if anyone else watched the show.

Gasspasser 01-28-05 10:48 AM

Yeah, I just can not get into any of the characters this season. NONE of them have any type of charm. Look at the college people, Hippies, people that cant dress well and are essentailly losers. The other team (street smarts) are a bunch of vulgar overly agressive losers. Either way, it doesnt look like I will be finishing watching this season.

Gil Jawetz 01-28-05 11:38 AM

What was that one woman talking about with Steve Forbes? He understands what america is about better than anyone? He wakes up every morning appreciating the american dream? Were they smoking cigars laced with crack?!?

Groucho 01-28-05 11:43 AM

Yeah, being born the son of a rich guy is not the "American dream."

movieking 01-28-05 12:20 PM

I didn't see the preview either, so please post what it was (spoilerized).

The only people that I know for this show now are people that are idiots. So Verna quit, and they welcome her back with open arms? As soon as they lose, regardless of how well she did in the task, she is going to the boardroom. There is no way in hell she can win this thing now with her childish attitude. I am sure that Trump wouldn't want anyone running his company who just felt that they had to "excape". She is toast.

The PM that got canned deserved it, but so did the accountant chick. I loved it when the other chick told her to SHUT THE FUCK UP!

yup declaring that your casino hotels are bankrupt makes it a banner year -rolleyes-

Anyway, these candidates are morans. I wouldn't have renovated all the rooms because there simply wouldn't be enough time. Renovate some of the rooms and make them very good. WTF was that with the beds and the plastic covers? Were they renting them?? Did they have to return them later? It takes two seconds to remove the plastic covers.
Also, that guy with the real estate experience (i.e. renovating properties) is creepy. I have no idea why he got EXTREMELY hostile at the board meeting during what seemed like a normal discussion about renovation.

This is a terrible season with very few good looking people to distract me from the ad placements. BOOOOOOurns

Fok 01-28-05 12:55 PM

Looks like there's going to be a lot of fireworks in this season. Glad whats his name got fired.

I don't think I have to spoiler this part:

Towards the very end, it shows the losing team in the board room, the back of them actually.

Spoiler:
I was only glancing at the previews, but I saw no ugly big headed 'Chyna' heads on the bodies of the women, so I believe it was the Book Smarts team cause I saw a blondish brown headed skinny woman (Stephanie or Kendra).

But I am not 100% sure about that part, so hopefully the person who originally said the previews spoiled it, will give a certainty.

There was obviously a scene that was cut out of the board room where they all ganged up on him.

Spoiler:
This is the guy who looks as if he quits next week. They may use that footage of the board room next week to fill out the details

No shit. That was impossible task. And on $20,000 no less. If they had 14 rooms, that comes down to less than $1500 per room. And from the look of it, the rooms needed a lot of work: plumbing, carpeting, electrical, furniture, televisions.

And shit, two days isn't enough to let the fucking paint on the walls dry. Even in a big house, it's going to smell for three or four days, and these are little enclosed hotel rooms.

I wonder if this challenge wasn't designed to see how they operate under stress.

There's an old saying: Good, Fast, Cheap. Pick two.

Isn't that the point of the entire show? :D

CPA-ESQ. 01-28-05 03:08 PM

What month do you think they did this in?

Seaside Hights looked mighty empty for prime time summer.

Those hotels looked well kept up on the outside - and what hotel has no beds?
