Alias 01/26/05

Episode Title: "Welcome to Liberty Village'

Spoiler:
Sydney and Vaughn pose as a married couple in suburbia in order to find a weapon that could set society back to the Dark Ages. They quickly discover that "marriage" is a real strain on their relationship, and the picturesque neighborhood they've infiltrated is not nearly as innocuous as it seems - nor is it in America.

What with Lost being a repeat, nice to have this to look forward to!

Stupid Iowa State basketball game is on tonight. That means Alias won't be on. A few weeks ago they pulled the same bullshit and Lost was on at 2am and I don't know when Alias was on. Guess I'll have to download this episode too.

Third Baseman 01-26-05 07:03 PM

Why is LOST a repeat?!

Bigsierra 01-26-05 08:59 PM

For a minute, it almost looked like they were going to start a real arc. They sure spent enough time laying the ground work, just to pull it out from under the episode.

Interesting conversation about Irena with Sloane and Jack. Maybe she is still alive.

I could have sworn Jack said Elena Derevko not Irina. Chances are I'm imagining things, again. :D

My wife and I both heard "Elena" as well. It was kind of odd to hear that. I guess we'll see what's up soon.

I really liked this episode, I just wish they would throw us a cliffhanger every once in a while. I'm beginning to hate how everything seems to resolve itself in one hour. They can do it on Lost, why can't they do it on Alias again?

Ted The Bug 01-26-05 09:24 PM

OK, I have no problem stretching credibility for this show whatsoever, but how the hell did that watch send pictures from Russia to the US?

I thought it was a good episode.

Interested to see where Jack and Sloane's conversation at the end will lead.

So much for uninterupted Alias for the whole season. The preview said "In two weeks.."
Anyone know what is next week in the timeslot?

The State of the Union

If you taped it, you could go back and see what the Closed Captioning folks though was said and see how they spell it. ;)

Isn't Elena Irina's sister?

I dont think so this year.

According to my tv guide with Lost on the cover (I got Sawyer. ) it says the SOTU is Wednesday 9-11.

Ranger 01-26-05 10:06 PM

ok, you're right. I checked abcnews, and the SOTU is scheduled for feb 2, 2005.

At least there's still a new smallville episode. :)

resinrats 01-26-05 10:09 PM

The Elene/Irina thing could just be the actor mispronouncing the name and the editors not catching it.

chrisih8u 01-26-05 10:14 PM

I thought that Russian guy was talking about trying unsuccessfully to find Irena. Jack didnt fill the guy in that she was dead and then told Sloane about it. Then they agreed they had to "move the timetable up". Maybe I wasnt paying attention too well.

This was my wife and I's favorite ep of the season (she has been disappointed w/ the season so far - particularly in regards to how they re-booted the info that was revealed at the end of the last season).

I don't mind the stand-alone eps as long as there is some time on the side devoted to moving the overall story along and keep us guessing and debating...

Is Isabella Rossellini going to make another appearance this season? I hope so...

B.A. 01-26-05 10:56 PM

According to my Closed Captioning (and it sounded right to me upon repeated listens):

Alexei said, "We haven't heard from IRINA in quite some time." Then Jack said, "She's a difficult woman to keep track of."

Later, Jack said (to Sloane), "The Russians are searching for ELENA Derevko."

So maybe the Sentinel is Irina's sister, Elena, and Jack confirmed the Russkies are looking for her when they asked for the Irina's books and Alexei was content w/ just the one.

It sure looked like this was going to go more than one episode...I think they rushed the ending a lot as most people have said

I'm just not digging this show like I used to in the previous seasons

FinkPish 01-27-05 03:04 AM

This episode reminded me of the X-Files episode where Mulder and Scully had to pose as husband and wife in a "perfect community." I liked it; I really enjoyed the auto dealership fight.
