Help pick the next TV BoxSet...its that time again!

I have finally completed another TV BoxSet, and I'm asking for suggestions on the next one.

This has been what I've completed:

1) 7th Heaven 1st Season- Loved the show, thought it was great!!!

2) Sex and the City Season 1-6- This was a much different series, but I liked the dichotmy, as they are completly different.

3) 24 Season 1-3- Wonderful show, and I am really looking forward to seeing Season 4 on DVD!!!!!

4) The OC Season 1- My guilty pleasure!!!! I bought it with a gift card after Christmas, and I loved the show. Great writing and good charcters. I think after watching this season, I am hooked on this show, does the quality stay for Season 2?

So what should I try next? I was thinking about Alias, but now after watching "The O.C." I am thinking something similar to it. Is "One Tree Hill" any good?

whitetigeress 01-23-05 10:44 PM

I would suggest Gilmore Girls.

Rypro 525 01-23-05 10:51 PM

Just buy Arrested Development and be happy.

every time he needs to buy a new box set.

Jackskeleton 01-24-05 01:13 AM

I mean COME ON! it's pretty clear what needs to be done. Buy Arrested Development.

How about Firefly. Movie comes out later this year.

kramdenfan 01-24-05 07:50 AM

In no particular order....

Arrested Development, Season 1
OZ, Seasons 1-4 (4 available early Feb)
The Wire, Seasons 1-2

fallfan 01-24-05 08:52 AM

Get Freaks and Geeks. Great show that I completely bought in a blind buy and you don't have to worry about spending money on subsequent seasons.

Actually, the other suggestions above mine are all fantastic choices as well. Buy Arrested Developement!

Mopower 01-24-05 08:55 AM

Arrested Developement
Monk
Alias
X-Files
Stop asking every damn week

That would be my suggestion, however, ABC Family (I am catching in re-runs) is close to end of the 4-season cycle they have - about 2 more weeks - so I assume that they will start over after that. You may want to watch it that way.

Sessa17 01-24-05 09:59 AM

Try something different & truly original.

Spaced

The Office

hippie68 01-24-05 10:20 AM

I would either suggest ALIAS or NIP/TUCK. Nip Tuck won best drama at the Golden Globes. It is one of my favorite shows. Alias has three seasons out on DVD and Nip Tuck has two. Let us know what you decide.

bigsoos 01-24-05 11:29 AM

last season of Angel is coming up next month

Shannon Nutt 01-24-05 12:36 PM

The Sopranos.

Deftones 01-24-05 12:40 PM

Nothing that people haven't already mentioned:

Arrested Development
The Wire (both seasons released)
The Shield (all 3 so far)

Coupling is great if you like Brit-coms.

Are you into sci-fi?

What about the Star Trek: TNG, Voyager and Deep Space 9 sets.

jrsl76 01-24-05 12:45 PM

I would suggest any of the following:

Alias
Sopranos
Arrested Development
Freaks and Geeks
Buffy
Angel
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Nip/Tuck
Six Feet Under

These are obviously my tastes, however, above these I would suggest my new addiction: Gilmore Girls, which is just a fantastic, wonderfully written and acted show. That's the one I'd get!!!

CreatureX 01-24-05 12:59 PM

Futurama

Sessa17 01-24-05 02:35 PM

I know I have the total opposite taste of others that post here, but I cannot recommend enough to try something different.

I've got to recommend the best TV on DVD box set to ever be produced.

Band Of Brothers!

Well he won't be happy when after 5 days he has finished a 24 episode boxset.

As for comedy I'd go with Curb Your Enthusiasm also. Drama? NYPD: Blue season 1 is cheap right now.

thebunk 01-24-05 04:30 PM

My vote is for Arrested Development as well. If this keeps going, it could match or possibly beat Sinefeld as best comedy series of all time.

Also, AD has GREAT re-watchablity.

AndyCapps 01-24-05 04:50 PM

I'll vote One Tree Hill. I'm thinking about picking it up myself.

mikeporter 01-24-05 05:22 PM

Dead Like Me
Firefly
Freaks and Geeks
Stargate SG-1
Twin Peaks
Wonderfalls
X-Files

slop101 01-24-05 05:25 PM

Renegade with Lorenzo Lamas just came out on dvd - get that, I hear it's good.

chileorgullo 01-24-05 08:39 PM

umm has anyone mentioned arrested development?
eerie indiana - entire series goes for about 20 bucks
dracula the series - can find volumes 1 & 2 21 episodes total 5.99 each best buy, fun show, can't beat the price

xx2000xx 01-24-05 09:14 PM

1. Sopranos (100% no brainer, if you've never seen it)
2. Buffy
3. Six Feet Under
4. The Shield
5. Oz
6. Alias
7. Smallville
8. Angel

cross 01-24-05 09:15 PM

I'll recommend Deadwood.

Dalvin 01-27-05 08:40 PM

I think I'm going to go with "Arrested Developement" this time around. I've heard nothing but great things about the show, from my doctor, to my brother to my drunk friend who hangs out at the bar til 3am. Could someone tell me if it has a "Play All" button, that would be great.

Derrich 01-27-05 09:27 PM

It has a play all button.
