Arrested Development 1/23/05

Where's the usual thread for this, man?

Alright episode, but the usual good GOB lines.

"This goes for the guys too, because sometimes even the guys are tapped out. But check your lease, man, you're living in Fuck City."

and

"I'm an idea man, I think I proved that with Fuck Mountain."

worrywort 01-23-05 09:11 PM

My Fav line
"Everyone always remembers Frank Sinatra"

Geofferson 01-23-05 09:21 PM

Not the strongest of the season, but still a good episode this week.

MrX 01-23-05 09:27 PM

"Then Gob fucked Lucille 2"

Deftones 01-23-05 09:28 PM

Tobias is Queen Mary.

The lines he had when he was talking to Buster about being his wingman were great.

Jackskeleton 01-23-05 10:56 PM

Great great episode.

This season really has been GOB all the way.

Breakfast with Girls 01-23-05 11:02 PM

This episode was hilarious.

"I'll even take a chubby and suck it up!"

Plus the rival "gangs" I was almost tearing up at that.

I thought it was "everyone thinks they're Frank Sinatra". Either way though it got a chuckle.

My favorite line was ".........I guess she didnt see the pictures". Michael Cera has such good comic timing for a kid.

Big Boy Laroux 01-23-05 11:32 PM

yeah, it was "everyone thinks they're frank sinatra"

"my son doesn't like to be seen in it [the stair car]"

"but he likes being seen with that girl?"

"i know, it doesn't make sense..."

Draven 01-23-05 11:50 PM

Two of my favorite moments:

"I get hop-ons"
"Yeah, you get hop-ons."

"Well that's what Ask Jeeves said."

story 01-24-05 01:05 AM

I liked that they revisited George Michael's crush on Maeby. I remember this being a huge deal in the first few episodes of the first season, but not really touched upon as of late. The George Michael / Maeby crush was one of my favorite jokes of the pilot episode.

RoQuEr 01-24-05 03:32 AM

did I miss something? How did maebe become a movie exec?

sven 01-24-05 04:05 AM

From the official site....

Tobias, meanwhile, wants to plot his route to the studio where he’ll be auditioning tomorrow

Tobias and Maeby arrive at the studio and Maeby convinces her father to get the Funke name spread around the studio before tomorrow’s audition.

Tobias begins to create his own buzz. Meanwhile, Maeby looks for an empty office to use the phone, but can’t get through to George Michael, who was supposed to be writing an essay for her. An assistant enters the office and mistakes Maeby for a high-powered entertainment exec. Maeby assigns him her essay to write.

Over at the studio, Tobias loses out on the role he was up for. But a development executive notices Maeby carrying around her book report for The Old Man and the Sea and, when she gives her name, thinks she’s the Funke everybody’s been talking about. He immediately green-lights her version of the book, starring Jude Law.

A bit of a letdown episode for me, but still miles funnier than most anything else.

The "chubby" line had me rotfl

Agreed. He's a very funny fellow. I've never seen anything like it in an actor that young.

Buster had a line early in the episode that had me rolling...but now I can't remember what it was. ARGH!

Cusm 01-24-05 08:58 AM

What did George Sr. say to Michael when he told him he was bored and wanted a book, all I heard was "Pop-pop..."

I believe it was "Pop-pop wants a Grisham!"

djbrown 01-24-05 09:44 AM

"Indeed, Starla and Buster did hit it off well, Buster being a sweeter, more supportive man than she was used to...and Starla being a woman that wasn't 70"

"And George Sr. was only too happy to have something to read:

Armageddon 2: Armageddon...*crosses it out*...hmmmm, bad title."

I think the last 3 have been great. It was the first few that were a bit of a letdown. But like you said still funnier than anything else.

Big Boy Laroux 01-24-05 01:24 PM

loved the blue dot for george sr.

guywall 01-24-05 01:51 PM

Loved the progression of Singles City, Swing City, F*** City, F*** Mountain.

GOB: "Plus, I took his fancy eyebrows."

I can't remember the line later when Michael says " Are you wearing his eyebrows?"
GOB: " Yeah, they make me feel ?dressy?"

I also liked, "Do you get a windbreaker with the car?"

Birrman54 01-24-05 03:41 PM

The return of the hand chair

Roto 01-24-05 06:06 PM

Except for the Christmas episode it seems like every episode this season has about a dozen posts in here saying it's a letdown, and for every one of those posts someone else says it was better than the last one. I guess they are managing to keep everyone happy :p Personally, I think they've been pretty consistent.
