Letterman already is for me, but Monday's show will be Must-See. RIP Johnny. I thought Letterman was in reruns this week. Here's Letterman's statement from CNN: It's a sad day for his family and for the country. All of us who came after are pretenders. We will not see the likes of him again. He gave me a start on his show and in doing so, gave me a career. A night doesn't go by that I don't ask myself, "What would Johnny have done?" He has been greatly missed since his retirement. Thank God for videotapes and DVDs. In this regard, he will always be around. He was the best. A star and a gentleman. |
While I never much enjoyed the talk show bits, the comedy stuff was pure gold. The Slawson Cut-off will never be the same again. . . .

Carson was one smooth host. He could make anyone interesting, whether it was a shy child actor or the only 102 year old school crossing guard in America. I would watch his monologue, hoping a joke would bomb because he was so at ease and confident, that he could even make that funny. A legendary television icon.

Agreed. There was a confidence, grace, and respect for his guests that Carson was always able to project. A true original and he will be missed.

I watched it last night. That's the first time in years that I watched almost a whole episode (don't really care for k.d. lang). It wasn't bad. I'm sure Paris Hilton was PISSED that she was bumped for all those "old people."
I liked Craig Ferguson's tribute better than Leno's. And he didn't even know Johnny. |
It is so sad that Johnny did not get the replacement for his show that he wanted, I never watch Jay, but I had to last night. The guest were great, too bad the host was not.

The NBC tribute would have been much better if they just let Ed, Don, and Bob do the whole thing without Jay sitting there reading his que cards to get them to tell certain stories.
