Is Carolyn wearing less eye makeup this season?

chowderhead 01-21-05 10:13 AM

I missed the first part so I have a question
So the street smart team bought airline tixs, costumes and put up signs with I guess money they received to run this task. WTF did the book smart team do with their money??? buy a guitar and reams and reams of paper.
Todd is a tool. I think all he did on the task was read reams of paper. During the penthouse segment, he must have taken a million pages of notes. What a moran.

I also will probably cut the cord since this show is really starting to annoy me with the comerical tie-in promos and the stroking of Trump's ego.

Same here. After the disgrace that was Season 2, I just couldn't invest the time. I thought the intent of the show was to hire the best possible candidate...not hire the best candidate who fits into this gimmick. I'll return when the quality of the show returns.

tofu 01-21-05 10:29 AM

It was an alright start to the episode. It already seems like the booksmart team is going to have a lot more infighting and backstabbing than the other team.

I watched S2 to see what the hubub was about...I left convinced that everyone else in the world is just a hubub addict

I liked season 2 til the finale that lasted way to long, will keep watching this season

exactly what I was thinking, she even had a little skirt on when she was crying on the bed about not wanting to lose a team member like she was friends with them after 1 day, just seemed very much like something Ashlee would do/say, I wouldn't hire her as a lawyer after seeing her on the show

Fok 01-21-05 10:57 AM

Couldn't stand when that Ashley Simpson girl started crying about sending some one home as well.

Glad how it turned out last night. Where's the hot chicks this season?

LiquidSky 01-21-05 11:04 AM

Are the taxi rides real? ;)

Anyone notice the ad for Hotjobs.com on the taxi at the end of the episode? I never noticed it in the previous seasons. Thought it was a hilarious little touch or jab at the fired contestant.

Michael T Hudson 01-22-05 12:55 PM

I have to say hearing the story about Trump paying off the guys mortgage changed my opinion on the guy. That was awesome that he did that.

movieking 01-22-05 08:30 PM

I've heard that story attributed to many many celebrities over the years. I still don't know if I believe Trump.

It was an okay episode. I pretty much hate everyone. The Book Smarts had the most laughably bad promotion outside Wendy's that I have ever seen.

Josh-da-man 01-22-05 08:58 PM

Snopes says the story isn't true, and it's even been updated with references to this week's episode.

(You know, Trump looked kind of irritated when the contestant asked him about it, but the guy who asked the question was also making an ass out of himself during the dinner.)

Maybe this is one of those things Trump let people believe was true long enough that to deny it now makes him look bad. But the guy put him on the spot and he had to lie or look like a liar. Tough choice for the Donald.

Dabaomb 01-22-05 11:57 PM

Wow, I missed almost the entire episode cuz I was at the movies (Coach Carter...better than I expected it to be). Neways, I've never missed an episode of the apprentice until tonight. No biggie I guess.

Michael T Hudson 01-23-05 12:29 AM

Well if it was a lie then my original opinion of the Donald was right. :(

movieking 01-23-05 11:31 AM

I really and truly don't believe the story. Let's hear from the couple whose house he paid off, with proof that he did it, dated a few years ago like the story says.

Boy, if Trump lied about that story on the show, then he is real scum. I mean, we all know in the best of circumstances that he's scum, no mystery there. But for some reason that REALLY strikes me as low. What the hell is he, Johnny Fairplay?

If it's a lie then I'd LOVE to see it blow up in his face and ruin the show Memogate-style.

Actually, with all the times he had them scream it, I can't believe you forgot that what they were saying was "UNBELIEVABLE!!" -ohbfrank-
;)

Geez, that guy was annoying, so much so that I'm afraid he's going to become the Jennifer of this season, skating by because no one will let him lead. Is he going to work his guitar into EVERY task??? :yack:

I think Todd deserved to go: he was leading a small team at a short-time-frame task. A lead-from-a-distance approach NEVER works on this show, you have to be willing to get your hands dirty... or covered in grease, in this case. :) What was he thinking, not training in any behind-the-counter job?

Thanks for the Snopes link, I didn't believe it when I saw it on the show, but I have to wonder if Trump didn't feel put on the spot and didn't want to admit it was a lie on national TV. The Snopes link says it was some low-level lackey in the Trump organization who first started the rumor, and Trump probably finds himself not wanting to deny it, but he didn't start the rumor.

Also, interesting story at the end of the Snopes page about Trump actually doing something almost that nice for someone who helped his mom. :)

Edge 01-23-05 04:15 PM

There didn't seem to be any likable person on the show. Interestingly enough, there's no one from Harvard on the show this year. In fact, it looks like none of the book smarts people went to any prestigious colleges.

And that Danny guy was very annoying. This makes me wonder if he was brought on the show just to stir things up...

And I would guess the Trump story is a lie, but he probably said it was true since he was put on the spot. On the other hand, he could have told them it was a lie and then had the bit editted out.

Osiris 01-23-05 05:19 PM

Trump is now fired.

Brain Stew 01-23-05 05:51 PM

I think the problem is that the show is stacked in favor of the "Street Smarts" team. Most Americans don't have a college degree and enjoy "rooting for the underdog."

Furthermore, it seems like they purposefully choose the best of the best in regards in to "Street Smarts" and the average in regards to "Book Smarts." These "Streets Smarts" people are really just the exception ot the rule, most people who don't go to college don't make 1 Million a year. Whereas most people who go to college easily clear the high-end of 5 figures.

Oh well, Trump gets ratings, in the end he is the only winner.

Got this forwarded to me by a cow-orker:

“SL Girl (Audrey) on apprentice is a fraud...

They're dubbing her as one of the most successfull RE Agents in Utah. Get this (we have access to the stats) she did 5, count them 5, transactions... ever. They've also said she specializes in high end deals, how is $100,000 for high end real estate?? Anyway, I know this girl well, I personally fired her from her last job. I think her unemployment ran out maybe 6-8 months ago. We've got a pool going on in our office on how long she'll last. She is so far out of her league. Anyway, I'm just bugged she's getting all this pub based on lies. I can't believe even the news is reporting her as this huge success. Nothing could be farther from the truth.”
