Is Alias funny?
OK, I know it's not a sitcom, so I'm not looking for "Arrested Development" or "Scrubs" (or even "Rodney," which, to be fair, isn't actually funny). But does it have a sense of humor like "Buffy" or Sorkin's "West Wing," or is it completely intense, like "24" or "ER?"

I don't think it has a sense of humor like Buffy or West Wing.
I think some of the ridiculous storylines are funny. Unlike the mentioned shows, Alias goes out of its way to bring the funny with the tech guy, Marshall, who does deliver most of the comedy but usually brief. But Jack has had some of the best and funniest lines I've heard - he's like Tommy Lee Jones' character in The Fugitive. It's not intense as 24 or ER. I think MI-5 and La Femme Nikita are spy shows I can take more seriously. But Alias is a fun show to watch. |
I'd say its amusing sometimes but not really funny or quirky like Buffy used to be.

Yeah, it has its moments (like in last week's teaser with Dixon's Jamaican accent), but no, it's not as funny as BtVS. Marshall is usually good comic relief (especially when he comes along on a field mission), and Jack does have a dry humor at times, but honestly, Chloe on 24 last year made me laugh a lot more than Alias ever has.

Marshall brings the funny.

Yes, it has a sense of humor, but it can also be very intense.

I agree with others that scenes with Marshall are pretty funny. Otherwise, they are usually pretty serious.

Yeah, it is...kind of like life, in a way.
Funny at times, but no non-stop laugh riot. |
Syd's crying far out weighs anything funny Marshall does/says. I love the show but the crying is getting way out of hand :)
