Battlestar Galactica season premier

Battlestar Galactica starts tomorrow. I'm going to try to make it a double header with Enterprise.

Anyone planning on watching it?

As the ragtag fleet plays cat-and-mouse with the Cylons, Roslin and Adama face the possibility that one of their ships has been infiltrated by the enemy.

Damn straight. I wanted to re-watch the mini series but I keep missing the first two hours. I havn't stuck with anything since B-5 ended. I hope BG keeps me coming back eveyweek.

Chew 01-13-05 12:18 PM

I've seen the first several episodes through....other methods. I won't be watching on Sci-Fi, but will be watching again from the start when it finally premieres on UniversalHD.

adamblast 01-13-05 12:42 PM

Unlike the UK broadcasts, they're treating the first two episodes, 33 and Water, like a single two hour block, even in the repeats. (I imagine they'll still have seperate credits and episode numbers, since they're still using both episode titles, but who knows. Sounds like they're doing the same next week, too. Maybe they're trying to catch up with SkyOne?)

I look forward to having other people watching, finally! It's been a solid show so far, not flawless by any means, but certainly up the the standards they set in the miniseries pilot... Enjoy!

So when will it start on UniversalHD? Would be cool to watch it in HD as opposed to nasty SD.

mikehunt 01-13-05 03:58 PM

can't wait to finally be able to discuss the episodes
I've seen all 11, but I will still rewatch them on sci-fi
not that it matters ratings wise as I don't have a nielsen's box

I asked that question several weeks ago, but have yet to find an answer. :( Not even the UniversalHD site gave me a start date.

Can't wait. Although, I said that for the mini-series, and fell behind because I got too busy along with other things. I hope I'll be able to watch the whole season. Too many damn good tv shows on nowadays, eh?

Dr. DVD 01-14-05 06:21 PM

Nice to have something to do on Friday nights now. ;)

I really look forward to this show tonight. Is it going to be two hours or will it just be one?

Kaffe_02 01-14-05 07:42 PM

Yep I'll be watching this one, I really enjoyed the miniseries and hope they keep the series up to that.

mikehunt 01-14-05 08:05 PM

33 Minutes
good episode (actually all 11 that I've seen are good)

edit: they changed the opening credits music

DVD Mike2 01-14-05 08:18 PM

They changed the theme song from the UK version.

DVD Mike2 01-14-05 08:20 PM

Seen all 11 episodes from the UK also......hooked on it.

mikehunt 01-14-05 08:38 PM

if they were smart they'd jump again to get further away from the cylons

mikehunt 01-14-05 09:01 PM

I like the specialist

al_bundy 01-14-05 09:05 PM

i like the flashbacks to caprica

they human cylons are a nice idea. they add a lot to the story

vaporware 01-14-05 10:10 PM

I don't think those are flashbacks.

mikehunt 01-14-05 10:12 PM

don't watch the lowdown
should be called Battlestar Galactica: the spoilers

as for Caprica, I don't think the timelines match perfectly but it's close to the same time on caprica as it is for the fleet. but later on I think it has to be off by a day or two

regent 01-14-05 10:56 PM

The Caprica angle was a great idea, very impressed with the whole presentation. only thing that would make it better would be HD, but the letterboxed Direct tv showing looked really good on my 50".

The Antipodean 01-14-05 11:48 PM

Hmm, I missed the miniseries and tried to watch this but didn't really get into it. Just watched "33" and whiel there were some nice bits in general it was too serious and dull, with some rather incoherent plot points for newcomers like myself (what was with all the flashbacks or whatever with the British fellow and the blond Cylon?). Competently made and far better sfx than the original but in the end nothing that I feel like watching again.

JesseCuster 01-15-05 12:18 AM

I think it helps a lot to have been a fan of the original. It helps you get into the mythology of the show and adds a lot of emotional resonance to what can potentially be a tad confusing, what with Kobol references and the 12 Colonies and "FRAK!" coming out of Starbuck's mouth every 5 minutes. A very good idea on Ron Moore and the other writer's parts was to make the civilization in the show a sister, parallel culture to the earth's, rather than an "oooo, how freaky!" sort of overtly alien culture. I worked tonight so I missed the first episode but I picked the mini-series up on DVD and I was *very* impressed with it. Ronald Moore has himself a heck of a show with *huge* potential.

They're actually only showing 1 episode next week, "Bastille Day". They wanted to make it an event for it's premiere, but next week, SciFi's full lineup premieres.

Yeah, and the new one sucks. I much preferred the UK version.

Very spoilerific. I'm kinda pissed that i watched it.

I just saw the miniseries last week on NBC, and i was very impressed. Tonight's episodes were great too. I've season passed it on my Tivo and i look forward to seeing it develop. I'm curious to see what the UK theme sequence looks and sounds like.

Sierra Disc, the miniseries will rerun on Sunday. It's 4 hours. It's what hooked me in. The original was before my time, and what i've seen of it doesn't interest me much.

I agree. I like the UK one better. Anyone know why it was changed?
