Marcia Cross and Stephen Culp have great chemistry in the roles.

Loved Susan singing NY NY.

Great episode. Teri Hatcher has some of the best scenes in the show. NY NY

So I guess that they're just going to shovel Andrew's not feeling guilty about running over Mrs. Soliz under the carpet.

I imagine that story line will come up again at some point. Likely when (if) she recovers.

clckworang 01-10-05 05:04 PM

I'm sure the Solis mother storyline is far from over, especially in regards to Andrew. And I, too, am sorry to see Sokolof (sp?) already potentially leaving; I thought she was a good addition to the show. But I don't think we should be completely convinced she's gone for good.

And someone else mentioned the possible pressure for this show to make it to No. 1 in the ratings. I think ABC is just so thrilled to have any show in the top 10 or 15, much less No. 2, that they will let the writers continue to do what made the show a hit. ABC was in the basement for so long that I think they might just bask in the limelight of their big one-two punch (Desperate Housewives and Lost).

clckworang 01-10-05 05:05 PM

Something I forgot to ask about ... I remember hearing a while back that this show was only going to have 13 episodes for its first season. Was that true? And more to the point, with the show's enormous success, has the network maybe pushed for a longer first season now?

adamblast 01-10-05 05:28 PM

I don't know anything specific; but are you sure you didn't just hear that it had been granted a 13-run order because of its success? That's typical these days, unlike a few years ago, and would have been widely reported at the time... These days a series starts with an order of only 4 eps or so, then is granted a 13-ep greenlight, then a full-season greenlight...

ABC originally only bought 8 episodes, but by the time the second or third episode aired, announced that they had picked up a full season.

...and I take it that means 24-or-so rather than 13? (I would expect so, not having heard of any of the broadcast networks going for HBO-styled seasons. Yet.)

Patman 01-10-05 05:53 PM

I'll miss them, err, her.

Agreed. I'd be surprised if Lynette's husband didn't still end up having an affair with her. Seems pointless to have her on the show, the attraction, etc. if they're not going anywhere else with it.

Chew 01-11-05 06:08 AM

Great addition to the cast to add Mrs. Huber's sister. It's a bit similiar to the part she played in Frasier, but she does it so well it can be forgiven. :)

IDrinkMolson 01-11-05 07:36 AM

Any chance they're going to replay this on Saturday. TiVo missed it becasue of Surreal Life. I bumped Desperate Housewives up to the top 5. Otherwise, they're pretty much in the order I added them.

Bad TiVo! Bad TiVo!

movieking 01-11-05 07:52 AM

Great episode. Funny, yet it progressed the plotlines.

To be fair, it's your own fault for putting a show that repeats often (Surreal Life) over a show that only airs once a week (Desperate Housewives).

I still blame TiVo. He's supposed to be my friend, my buddy. He's the kind of guy, you can throw up in back seat of his car, and he won't care.

But it's fixed now.

Dr. DVD 01-11-05 08:30 PM

TiVo is bad. TiVo sold out and decided to air commercials.

I wonder if all of the main actresses have it in their contracts to stay for a minimum of two seasons? I would hate for the season to end and then have some of them start holding out for more money and causing negative press and/or one of them leaving the show. All four of the main actresses are essential IMO.

Maybe this is old-school, but it used to be that when an actor signed on to a new series that went to air, a five year commitment was standard in the contract.

I thought they were all holding out for more money... or was that just a rumor?

QuikSilver 01-12-05 02:21 PM

Great episode!! Like everyone else, I laughing hard from Rex's statement.

From what I understand, it is considered customary if a show becomes a huge hit to renegoiate the original contracts in order to reward the stars with a bigger piece of the pie.

Red Dog 01-13-05 05:51 PM

So disappointed. Just found out on PTI that Eva Longoria is:

1. Not single.

2. Dating an NBA player.

3. The NBA player is French.

 x 3

Rogue588 01-13-05 06:06 PM

well, she used to be dating one of N'Suck..

Big Boy Laroux 01-13-05 06:24 PM

the rumor is that she's dating tony parker of the spurs. interesting.

Dr. DVD 01-13-05 08:01 PM

Didn't know the French could play basketball.
