TV Box Set, help me pick the next one

WEll I've done all 3 seasons of 24(HUGE FAN) and I am finished with all 6 seasons of "Sex and the City"(I thought the last 8 episodes were some of the best of all). In terms of 24, I will wait patiently for the Season 4 DVD release to come out at the end of the year(I like to watch it continously). My favorite show on televsion hands down!!! I need something to tied me over, however until then. Would you reccomend any of the following?

1) CSI- The Complete First Season- I have never seen one episode of CSI, but everyone tells me what a great show it is. This is a leading candiate.

2) Alias- Season 1- Another one I have never seen an episode of, but I have been told it has lots of plot twists that if you like 24, you will like.

3) Carnivale- Yes, I don't like the sticker price as the next guy(or gal) but I love the idea it revolves around : God, the Occult and a carnivale. I heard it is a very cerebral show(which I like). Could someone tell me how much violence and cussing it has in it, as trypical of HBO shows.

Any of three would you reccomend to start before waiting for season 4 of 24? Or any of reccomendations I haven't mentioned

24 is my favorite show ever also, and i would definately recommend The Shield (on FX) and The Wire (HBO).. 24 is the best, but the wire and shield are very close behind.. these 3 shows are the best ever on television

i just finished watching all 3 seasons of the wire within a week

I think you will like Alias Season one if you like 24. Season one is great with almost every episode ending in a cliffhanger.

I'd go with Alias as that's also a show that works best if you can watch it straight through

If you like 24..Alias and the Shield. I personally never have understood the infatuation everyone has with CSI, I think there are other crime dramas that are better for example Without a Trace, NCIS, and Law & Order: SVU.

CSI season 1 wasn't anything special. I love the show but I could never get into the first season.

I would go with Alias since the new season just started and you like 24 and the other shows of that nature.

Thanks Again. I looks like I will be picking up Alias Season 1. I would like to eventually get "The Shield", but I hear its ultra violent even for liberal viewers. I also hear its pretty depressing at times as well. Can't wait to begin Alias hope4fully starting tomorrow.
Jack, since you work at Fox I had a question I was hoping you might be able to answer. I love everything about the 24 Box Sets, the packaging, the picture, the sound, the extras everything, except one thing. Why is there no "Play All" option? I think this would be a big benefit if they included it on the Season 4 Box Set(I'm guessing which will arrive sometime in the 4th quarter of '05).

I have no idea why there isn't a play all feature. it would benefit and has been used on other box sets like Arrested Development.

It would be good to play all without having to see the spoiler filled picture for each episode.

What I hate about the 24 box sets(and other shows) is that they spoilerize it big time. I make sure not to read ANYTHING on the box or inserts because of that. And the worst part is the little pictures they show on the DVD menus, on the main menus and for each episode which show a scene. And gives things away. For example there have been main characters from previous seasons that you wouldn't know would or wouldn't be showing up..except they show you before you watch the episode. ARRRGH

Alias is a great show. I would never have bought it if it weren't for Netflix. The first season is great

Alias. Get through the pilot, get into it, and you'll love it.

I have to agree about giving away things(like on the baxck of 24 Season 2....what the hell were they thinking?). I also think a "Play All" option would benefit this series greatly, and considering the cult following it has would definetly be a way to improve on the next Box Set. I hope "the powers that be" know that the fans want this and do something about it

It's not on your list but Farscape -- you have to stick with it but it is a truly wonderful show!

If you aren't a Sci-Fi then Alias.

While I'm sure I'll like it)Alias), I don't think I will find anything (televsion wise) that will hook me in like 24 does. It's so well cast and the acting and writing are top notch.

I would personally stay far, far away from the Carnival set. I found that show to move extremely slow, with only a couple of somewhat interesting moments. It did nothing but piss me off when it was over....

Here are my suggestions, in no particular order:

-Arrested Development, S1
-Alias, any season
-Oz- start with season 1, then get the other 3 that will be available (season 4 in early Feb). These are expensive, but well worth it.
-Curb Your Enthusiasm, any season, but season 2 is my favorite (season3 comes out next week)

Hope that helps!

I would rent Carnivale if I were you.

Alias is a given.

The Shield is just awesome.

OZ is worth the sticker price.

Sopranos - same thing as above.

Firefly is great... and Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are also great (final season of the latter is due out next month). X-Files too.

Gee, I might just own too much TV on DVD!

Millennium Season I is excellent. Each episode is like a mini movie.
For anyone that is a fan of films like Se7en, they should enjoy Millennium.

Along with 24 Season I, Barnes&Noble.com had these box sets for $15 each last month. Don't know if they still do.
