Joey - 1/6/05

This show isn't that great, but tonight's show with Lucy Liu was pretty funny.

movieking 01-06-05 08:40 PM

I hate Lucy Liu in general, but she is funny on this. I would much rather see her character every week than pretty much anyone else appearing on this show right now, Joey included.

Big Worms 01-06-05 10:58 PM

Show just gets better and better. Laughed my ass off!

Patman 01-06-05 11:15 PM

I thought this episode was hitting on most cylinders, and I was laughing pretty hard through the 2nd half of the episode. Joey's agent was cracking me up with her belittling of the 2 women shorter/tinier than her. Alex was also cracking me up.

I do think it's funny how Joey's show "Deep Powder" is basically mocking "The Mountain" a current show on the WB.

kvrdave 01-07-05 12:00 AM

Still not to crazy about this show, but Lucy Lui was pretty good and the agent was fantastic.

dcprules 01-07-05 01:35 AM

An alright episode, but I really liked Lucy Liu in it. Her knocking bit was really funny.

Roto 01-07-05 03:42 AM

Definitely one of the best episodes. I didn't roll my eyes once! I even thought the lasagna bit was pretty good, even if it wasn't all that original.

Ha ha, kvrdave is the first one to admit liking the agent. He must not have read all the previous threads where everybody hates the agent and thinks she's the worst part of an awful show :D

I think the agent's funny too.

Anybody remember when
Spoiler:
one of Joey's other sisters will be joining the cast?

movieking 01-07-05 07:48 AM

I didn't know anything like that would be happening. Is it only for an episode or two or for good?

Morf 01-07-05 11:51 AM

I too enjoyed this episode. It was nice seeing them incorporate more of the cast into the episode.

Patman 01-07-05 12:42 PM

Joey's "daughter" is hot!

Bronkster 01-07-05 01:18 PM

Well, I guess I'm the only one who thought this one sucked. Everything just seems so strained to me. I want to like it, but it's so hard.....

You are not the only one. I have officially given up on this show.

but this is dvdtalk's tv forum. if people don't like a show they keep watching simply so they can bitch about the show sucking in the threads about the episodes

Shady12 01-09-05 02:28 PM

Well, I really like the show. I hadn't heard anything about another sister joining. I remember at least one episode on Friends where he had a little sister on, wonder if it would be that one, and the same actress?

lookslikeme 01-09-05 02:59 PM

Definitely the best episode so far. Overall this show's not great, but it can be fixed with just a little tweaking of the supporting cast. I don't know what they need to do exactly, but so far none of them are interesting, or funny, and they don't play off the Joey character well.

sherm42 01-09-05 04:52 PM

I like how they alluded to the mystery of why Alex's husband is never home.

I could definitely do without the nephew...he is as bland as they come.

RocShemp 01-09-05 08:34 PM

I really liked this episode too. And I've had no problem with Jennipher Coolidge in this show but her charecter definitely peaked in this episode. I hope they keep it up.

Groucho 01-09-05 08:37 PM

I haven't been a huge fan of "Joey" but I'm on board saying that this is the best episode they've done. Very funny...I hope this means the show has finally hit it's stride.

Fok 01-10-05 12:11 AM

I wonder if this show will last, the jokes are funny, but they not as they were on friends.

Then of course there's the episode from season 3 called "The One Where Chandler Can't Remember Which Sister" which seemed to have ALL his sisters in it (sans Gina and Dina - Dina was the pregnant sister in S8's "TOW Monica's Boots").

Chew 01-10-05 02:42 PM

Since the spoiler's out of the bag already......

I brought up the "other sister" joining the cast because I remember reading it in another Joey thread. But, searching for it all I found was somebody saying they read it, but didn't have a link.

Here's the thread.

Quake1028 01-10-05 04:44 PM

I love this show, despite what everyone else says. Friends didn't hit it's stride right off the bat, and neither did a lot of other successful shows. I haven't missed an episode yet and I don't plan to.
