L&O Fans: Countdown to Rohm's departure!!!

It appears to be that Elizabeth Rohm's character "Serena Southerlyn" will be exiting the series after a (painful) 3 1/2 year run.

Her swan song will be "Ain't No Love (Episode 338)" airing on January 12th, according to www.tvtome.com.

So that makes two more episodes and we'll be rid of her.

Here's the thread about her replacement: New assistant on 'Law & Order' announced

Brain Stew 12-30-04 09:52 AM

Holy crap this is the woman who can't act! My sister watches L&O reruns all the time and everytime I walk by and this woman delivers a line I have to laugh because she's so awful.

movieking 12-30-04 09:54 AM

So do we know under what circumstances she leaves?

slop101 12-30-04 10:08 AM

I've never seen her on L&O, but she was good on Angel.

Why the hate?

Ha, I was just about to post that while I don't watch L&O, she was PAINFUL on Angel.

Her OD episode was the most unintentionally funny drug moment since Jessie took those speed pills.

slop101 12-30-04 10:49 AM

^ that's right - I totally forgot about that! I stand corrected.

It's rumored that the tension between her character and Jack McCoy differing views of ethics in and out of the courtroom (together with that of DA Arthur Branch) escalates and she resigns her post.

I hope she throws a hissy-fit and storms out crying, with Jack smirking in the background!

.....

I did a Google Search for the epsiode title and found this descritpion of the episode:

LAW & ORDER (1/12)*
Air Date: 1/12/05 (WEDNESDAY)
Time Slot: 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST on NBC
Episode Title: "Ain'T No Love"

Wednesday, January 12 2005

LAW & ORDER --(10:00PM-11:00PM) --(TV-14)

"Ain'T No Love"

DETECTIVES TRACK HIP-HOP SUSPECTS AFTER MASTER RAPPER IS CAPPED -- Detectives Fontana (Dennis Farina) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) move to the beat of hip-hop when a legendary rapper is shot to death and evidence points to the victim's young protege (as Shawn, guest star Sean Nelson) who was known to be cutting his own music on bootlegged street CD's -- and more clues can be found in one song's lyrics that describe a similar killing. As police tie in another previous murder, A.D.A.s McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Southerlyn (Elisabeth Rohm) seek the e-mail addresses from a thuggish record label's web site that could unlock the case -- even as the two prosecutors clash over admissable facts. S. Epatha Merkerson and Fred Dalton Thompson also star.

The NY Post reported that Annie Parisse's first day on the set was December 10, 2004, and that she will appear in the January 19th episode "Fluency." (Link)

If it was speed pills it might of been more interesting, but I think they were caffeine pill, which made it funnier

This is the greatest news of 2004. I was a fan from (nearly) the beginning, but Rohm made the show 100% unwatchable for me.
Truly horrible acting, & that's being kind...

I thought she was too but apparently is not as good on L and O. I have only seen a bit here and there of L and O so I cant judge but I am constantly seeing bad stuff written about her performance in the press. Maybe she will get vamped on the last episode?? Straight from the headlines.

tasha99 12-30-04 12:52 PM

Truly great news. I've been trying to catch up on L&O, and she makes it almost unbearable (first half is good, then when they get to the lawyers--ouch).

Jobronie 12-30-04 03:57 PM

In her defense (as Jobronie ducks the rotten tomatoes hurled his way):

there was a point in the middle of her second or third season where she was given a few 'showcase' episodes, and it definitely looked like she had been working with a coach, as her performances were noticably stronger. Unfortunately, it only lasted for those few eps......

clemente 12-30-04 06:06 PM

I'll second (or third?) the point that she was good on Angel (not super stellar, but good)..well the OD thing wasn't her highpoint, but it was clear the writers had run out of reasons to have her on the show.

But she was bad on Law and Order...I stopped watching because she was so bad.

Josh H 12-30-04 07:28 PM

I've honestly never got all the hate for her. She's pretty stiff as an actor, but not unbearably so IMO. Nothing to make me not want to watch the show, and nothing to make glad (or sad) to see her go.

harosa 12-30-04 08:07 PM

Man, I never had a problem with her, but since she's pretty maybe I overlooked it. I did notice they kept ratcheting up the tension between her and McCoy.

cupon 12-30-04 08:15 PM

I remember when she debuted. I couldn't believe what I was seeing & hearing. Her performance was like watching paint dry. I was tempted to email NBC about the possibility of firing her, until I realized how stupid that idea was.

About half-way through the season it did appear that her performance had suddenly improved. As far as I'm concerned, she redeemed herself and while I don't consider her great, it no longer upset me when she walked in front of the camera.

clemente 12-31-04 01:47 AM

Maybe its not the actresses themselves, but the role of McCoy's hot young female assistant that is growing old. Between Kincaid, Ross, and Carmichael, I think they've covered just about any and all boss/associate confrontations and reactions, now they're just repeating themselves (a theme for the whole show actually)

Red Dog 12-31-04 10:00 AM

T-minus 12 days til the Rohmbot is turned off.

Dr. DVD 01-01-05 08:25 PM

I wonder what she will do after her run on this show? I remember she was on the first 1.5 seasons of Angel and was an even worse actress then, so she'll be lucky to find someone willing to tolerate her horrid style.

antennaball 01-01-05 08:54 PM

Sad week for Law & Order fans...

...but this helps!

FantasticVSDoom 01-01-05 09:14 PM

wow...And here I thought I was the only one who could not stand her. I have watched her jumped from all these shows, and I kept wondering, why does she still get work? Im glad to see I'm not alone in this.

Looks like she's got a part in the upcoming Miss Congeniality 2.

Guess I'll skip that one.

You should check the L&O fora if you think it is harsh here. :)

T-minus 10 days. :D
