I'm glad to see Ian McShane finally get reconized for his outstanding job on Deadwood.

Entourage? Seriously? I watched it, but I had no illusions as to it's quality...

Now that SITC is no longer on the air, Desperate Housewives will seem to rule this show.

No Scrubs? And when is John C. McGinley going to be recognized for his work?

Rescue Me should have been nominated over Nip/Tuck, whose second season only had a few episodes of any redeeming quality (McMahon was the only reason to watch it).

Deadwood, Lost, McShane, Leary, McMahon, Spader, Garner, Braff, Piven and Shatner.

LeBlanc, Jack & Karen (and Sean Hayes)

I'd really like to see Scrubs and curb your enthusiasm nominated in place of Entourage and Will & Grace. I enjoyed Entourage, but don't think it really deserved this nomination. I also think it's ridiculous that ABC gets to submit Desperate Housewives as a comedy just to avoid competition with Lost. I love the show and it makes me laugh sometimes, but it's a drama, not a comedy. I've admittedly never seen Denis Leary's show, but I'm surprised to see him nominated in place of James Gandolfini. I'm pleasantly surpised to see Zach Braff, Larry David, and Jeremy Piven nominated.

I don't have major problems with this, although I think The Shield and Law & Order: SVU deserved Best Drama nods (replacing 24 and Deadwood, although very tough to displace the latter).

Rescue Me should have been nominated in the Best Comedy category (and move Leary to Best Actor-Comedy). There is no show on television that makes me laugh more than Rescue Me. Gandolfini could then take the open slot in Drama-Actor category.

My brother-in-law kept saying the same thing as he watched the first season (but that is coming from someone who hates sitcoms).

I don't hate sitcoms, but I pretty much find the current slate of sitcoms unfunny and unwatchable.

That would be great if after 50 years of TV, William Shatner finally got a Golden Globe.

As much as I like Lost and Desperate Housewives is getting a lot of buzz and ratings, isn't a little premature to nominate them when they haven't even been on the air for a full season?

Kind of a broad category, isn't it? Drama, comedy, miniseries and made-for-tv movies?

No West Wing nods which isn't surprising given the drop in quality. Still no love for Gilmore Girls. Is it that no one is watching that show?

Shit. I totally forgot about American Dreams. That definitely belongs in the Best Drama category, so I would have to bump my previous inclusion of Law & Order: SVU.

They do submit their entries in the comedy category, correct?

Don't watch it currently, but I am catching up with it thanks to the re-runs on ABC Family. Very funny show, and certainly deserving of previous nominations in the various comedy categories of the Globes and Emmys.

I also suspect that it is extremely tough for the WB shows to garner noms in general.

I hate that they always group these together. This year's supporting actress catagory is especially bad. There is no way on earth that the extended cameos that Emily Watson and especially Charleze Theron turned in on "Peter Sellers" can even be considered next to the continuous fine work turned in week after week by Lauren Ambrose in 6FU, Portia De Rosi and Jessica Walters in AD, Lisa Kudrow in Friends, all the ladies in SATC and dozens of other fine actresses on TV who were passed over. What a joke.

I would like to see Ian McShane win, then give his acceptance speech in character.

Oh, the FCC's phones would be ringing off the hook...

Also, I would have loved to see Gandolfini and Sutherland over McMahon and Spader on the Best Actor list, but I guess you can't get everything you want.

Putting DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES in the Comedy section seems a bit of a stretch, but I suppose it will dominate. While sometimes funny, it would be similar to calling Buffy the Vampire Slayer a comedy in my mind.

BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A TELEVISION SERIES - DRAMA

MICHAEL CHIKLIS THE SHIELD

DENIS LEARY RESCUE ME

JULIAN MCMAHON NIP/TUCK

IAN MCSHANE DEADWOOD

JAMES SPADER BOSTON LEGAL

This category is amazing. I wouldn't mind any of them winning. If I had to pick I would go with Ian McShane with Julian McMahon in a close second.

And just think who isn't on there: James Gandolfini, Anthony LaPaglia, Dennis Franz, Dylan Walsh, and (not a fan myself) Kiefer Sutherland.
