The Most REWATCHABLE Tv shows in tv history ?
What tv shows can you watch over and over again.
I recently borrowed Alias box sets on dvd from a mate. After one viewing on tv and another on dvd to get the little bits you missed, the show isn't really rewatchable after that because it is the surprises which make the show. Rewatching my Buffy and Angel boxsets. Definitely dated a bit but i'm still enjoying them. However the most rewatchable tv shows by a mile are classic British comedies Fawlty towers, the Young Ones, Bottom and men behaving badly i can rewatch over and over and over. |
Young Ones have definately been rewatchable. Too bad they didn't make more.
In the states, I've seen every M*A*S*H episode probably 30+ times. |
I totally agree on M*A*S*H. I know i've seen all the eps many many times but I still laugh like I just saw them for the first time.
|
Amazingly i find Family Ties very rewatchable and also Perfect Strangers
|
Seinfeld and Arrested Development are the easy ones...
I've probably seen the same episodes of Saved By the Bell most than I should have. |
For me one of the big ones would be The Sheild. Everytime I tell a another partner at work about it I end up watching it again. I think I've seen Season 1 five times and am now watching Season 2 for the fourth
|
I find Alias to be rewatchable even though I already know the twists. It's like (but not as good a) Babylon 5. When you watch it again you try to find the small clues you may have missed the first time around.
Sports Night, West Wing, DS9, and Homicide are all on my rewatchable list too. |
Not a TV show per se, but shown and made famous on TV: Three Stooges shorts, hands down my winner. I've seen some of the Curlys dozens upon dozens of times. Ch. 38 in Boston showed them on weekends for decades, and their New Years Eve marathons got amazing ratings; management was always quick to point out that every time they tried to give them a rest and take them off the air a while, the switchboard was innundated with bomb-threats.
Couldn't stand it as a kid, but if I'm flipping channels now, I'll usually leave Andy Griffith on no matter how many times I've seen the ep. Honeymooners 39. My take on that is it was the birthplace of so many of the simple sit-com plot staples, and that's one of the things that makes it so re-watchable. Channel 11 in NYC showed it in the same late-night time slot for decades, and there was a reason for that. My wife will watch MASH anytime, anyplace, anyhow...... |
3 Stooges
Monty Python's Flying Circus Iron Chef Good Eats Hogan's Heroes (I think... it's been awhile so I guess we'll find out next year when the DVDs come out ;)) Band of Brothers Not the entire series but certain eps of: Bablyon 5 Stargate SG1 Dead Zone Twlight Zone |

Honeymooners, Odd Couple, Original Star Trek lineup from 11pm to 1am on Ch. 11 in NY was always a top notch sure thing. :) |
