Shows that made no sense

I know TV is fantasy and not in anyway realistic, but there are some shows that didn't even make sense even when you take into account that 'its just a tv show'.

For example:
Benson. The guy starts out as a butler and in a few years, rises to be Lt. Governer of California? Completely implausable. (ummm... wait a sec, maybe that wasn't the best example).

The Nanny. She would've been fired after a week. What exactly did she do?

Dukes of Hazzard. What was stopping Roscoe from just go to the farm and arrest Bo and Luke after they had escaped and forced him into a bale of hay? It's not like he didn't know where they lived.

Any others?

Maybe Bo and Luke were holding WMDs in their farm, and if Roscoe ever tried to start shit, Bo and Luke would blow that town to bits. ;)

Well, they DID strap sticks o' dynamite onto arrows and shoot them at outhouses and such. Darwin award contenders no doubt.
(We gotta see what dumbass behavior Johnny Knoxville brings to the table, eh?)

Mole177 11-28-04 11:17 PM

mash.

i never understood it.

DonnachaOne 11-28-04 11:19 PM

The Prisoner.

How does it end?

sherm42 11-28-04 11:26 PM

Three's Company

Come on, Jack would be banging at least one of those chicks.

And was it really needed to lie about being gay to live with two women? In the '70's? In Southern California?

Triple S 11-29-04 12:37 AM

I never ever figured out the other half of the battle on GI Joe.

Legolas 11-29-04 12:39 AM

The Korean War lasted 11 years on Mash. :)

ER... Boston Public... Who in their right mind would want to work at a place where EVERY POSSIBLE horrible situation happens on a daily basis?

Gilligan's Island: Why is it when a boat or plane is on their island, they always look for the person who owns it. If I were them, and I see a boat or plane, forget who owns it, steal it and get help!

mikehunt 11-29-04 02:00 AM

another gilligan's island thing
they show the boat in the opening credits and it has a hole in the side. so why not build a small square of bamboo to cover it, add some of the natural rubber that was on the island to seal it and take off in their own boat

Charlie Goose 11-29-04 06:49 AM

More Gilligan's Island, as if the show is supposed to make sense:

The Skipper and Gilligan actually lived on the Minnow, but were the only two that had no change of clothes.

raven56706 11-29-04 07:24 AM

The Harlem Globbetrotters episode on Gilligan's Island...... rotfl

Did the Professor ever change clothes?

About the boat... It's been a while since I've seen it, but in one of the very first episodes, the Professor tried to fix the hole in the boat, but Gilligan messed up and the boat literally disintegrated. So after the first or second episode, there was no more boat.

As for Three's Company, wasn't it established early on that Mr. Roper was pretty conservative and would have never allowed a heterosexual male to live with 2 women in his building, hence Jack's "gay" cover story?

Maybe is wasn't a lie like we were lead to believe......

On "Friends", Rachel went from a coffee house waitress with no work experience to an executive at Ralph Lauren within five years.

David_M 11-29-04 09:50 AM

King of Queens - Come on, Doug banging and marring Carrie and he's not even rich. Get real.

Chandler went from having no advertising experience, to being an intern, to being an advertising executive in a manner of months.

Wait a minute, he was so conservative he would rather have a gay man living in one of his apartments with two women?

Phil L. 11-29-04 04:34 PM

Plus on Three's Company...was Janet actually supposed to have been hot?!

Fok 11-29-04 04:35 PM

Chips, why didn't they use their guns for once?

Phil L. 11-29-04 04:49 PM

Although a pretty good show...I've said this before in a thread about Without A Trace.
Someone disappears for an hour and with no kidnapping or ransom demand, and not even really any signs of foul play, you get a complete team of FBI agents investigating the case on virtually a 'round the clock basis?!

Uh...I don't think so.

mikehunt 11-29-04 04:55 PM

ah, so there was an explanation
