Stern is on Letterman tonight

It's a little late to say this, with 40 min. to go, but whenever Stern is on Letterman or Leno it's always classic.

I'm sure you can always hit torrents or his newsgroup tomorrow for the cap.

He has made no secret of the fact that he was coming on solely to plug his new venture, the guy is not ashamed to be called one of the most self-promoting people in show business. I don't think Sirius is in trouble just because they didn't get out of the gate as fast as XM, they are the two companies at the beginning of what is the next generation of radio - I don't think either one should expect or hope to have a monopoly.

He's said on his show that he's going on to plug the shit out of it. It can only benefit him greatly since I'm sure increased subscriptions ads to his $$$

Also, you have to remember that he is pissed off at Infinity right now, who is owned by Viacom who also owns Dave's show. He's basically screwing them over by promoting the hell out of Sirius.

i would be shocked if sirius' membership didn't skyrocket by this time next year. as for stern, i agree with alot of what he is saying. although i am a staunch republican, i do think this whole censorship thing has gotten waaaaaay out of control.

Stern actually made some good points....it's not fair for Oprah to get preferential treatment

I also agree that the censorship has gotten far out of control, especially since the superbowl

Anyone know if Mel Karmazin's appointment as Sirius' head-honcho was announced before or after Howard taped Letterman....?

EDIT: Looks like it was announced right after the open on Thurday AM..........

Wow, just saw that Mel Karmazin has been hired as the CEO of Sirius. He was instrumental in alot of Howard's success. That's great news for Sirius and a huge step in the right direction!

That's huge. I also read that since the Stern deal was announced, Sirius has added 200,000 subscribers.

It was known on Wednesday afternoon that he would take over, but it didn't become official until this morning.
