Wednesday night is J.J. Abrams night [re: Alias' fourth season]
Too bad some eps of Lost will be repeats...
ABC has announced a fourth season of J.J. Abrams' award-winning spy drama ALIAS will premiere on Wednesday, January 5, with a two-hour season premiere that will air from 9-11pm. The following week, the series will settle into the 9pm hour, following Abrams' new series LOST, and new episodes of ALIAS will air each week, without any repeats, through the end of the season. "When we made the strategic decision this fall on ALIAS, we only hoped to be in the situation we find ourselves in today, said ABC president of entertainment Stephen McPherson. "LOST provides a terrific platform for ALIAS' new season. Not only do both shows have similar audience profiles with great appeal to television's most coveted young adult viewers, but they also share J.J.'s unique sensibility. This is a great two-hour block of programming."

Its funny that ABC is in the position of using new shows to prop up underperforming old show...instead of the other way around.
When Alias had to give its slot to Desperate Housewive until January, it looked bad for Sydney and company. When DH exploded right out of the box, it looked bad for Sydney and company.
Now that Lost also has a huge weekly audience, Alias' fortunes have completely flipped, from dire, to the best possible situation ever.
Not going to threadcrap on the shows quality, but lets hope they don't drop the ball now.

Sweet. Depending on whether or not The West Wing continues to improve between now and then I'll probably watch Alias and tape WW.

Since I love Alias, I'm glad its not up against Football and HBO shows anymore. But is being up against West Wing & American Idol any better?
I'm just glad I don't watch any of those shows!

I think this is a great move for the show. I hope that Abrams holds to his promise to return his attention to this show this season now that LOST is genuinely out of the gate and thriving. Season 3 was okay but easily the weakest of the series. BRING BACK LENA OLIN and QUENTIN TARANTINO!!!!!

The wife and I are going to have to re-watch season 3 before January.

Sounds like a good plan.
Now, why couldn't SIMPSONS be paired back-to-back with FUTURAMA like this?
FUTURAMA might have survived.
