SciFi's EarthSea w/Kristin Kreuk

Premieres on 12/13/04.

I'm not sure what to think of it. Worth a viewing?

Looks like Kreuk is on the Dec issue of SciFi magazine.

I'm down for anything starring Kristin Kreuk, she's the only reason I bother with Smallville. Now if only she was starring in my bedroom!!

If anyone has this issue, can you post what J. J. Abrams says about changing Alias.

That picture of her is just a little disturbing.

I believe Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) also stars in the tv mini-series. He looks like a hobbit.

I saw some previews for this. What is this about?

I'm not sure what it's about either. Try the link in my first post.

I don't think the Dec issue of the magazine is out yet, there should be some details of what is going on with Alias floating around the net soon.

And for the record, I like the picture.

Standard magic/sword&sorcery type stuff, based on a pretty well-known and respected fantasy book trilogy from the 70's... Maybe not exceptional books--I don't remember too much about them, other than it being one of the first trilogies I ever read and really liked, after growing up with Narnia, Prydain & Middle Earth... I remember the world being threatened by beings not too differrent than the ring-wraiths; but I don't remember the central quest or issue...

Heck, SciFi channel will probably toss out the original plot anyway, like they did with RiverWorld...

I would watch this...but I really despise Kristin Kreuk. I can't stand to watch her in anything.

I'm thinking this was an Ursula K. LeGuin series, but I'm not sure. Haven't read them, but I've liked some of her other books--could be good, but of course, scifi will probably mess up somehow.

Yes it is Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea Series, the first 2 books anyway. One of my favorite fantasy series. Not so much sword & sorcery (actually no swords at all that i can remember) but more one of those 'you gain power over a thing when you know its true name' intellectual type wizardy. Unfortunately, the previews don't look anything like what I had pictured in my head which has me kind of worried. It looks like they are trying to jazz it up. Still anxious to see it 'tho.
