#1 in the Ratings belongs to...ABC?!?
Wow. Not only has the alphabet nabbed the number one show this week (Desperate Housewives) but they came in a solid second overall to Court TV (aka CBS). They've pulled even with NBC for the season to date.
What's going on in TV Land? First Arrested Development wins the comedy emmy, then Amazing Race finally gets an audience, and now ABC makes a resurgence with outstanding new shows and without needing somebody to die to boost sitcom ratings (low blow.) It's like I walked into some Bizzaro world. How long can ABC keep this up? Top 20 Ratings |

Don't forget, CBS and NBC lost most of their highly rated Thursday shows because of the debate. ABC's showing is not as good as it looks. Nevertheless, Lost and Desperate Housewives are giving them a big boost.

I am glad that Desperate Housewives got the audience that it deserves. I think that it is a great show (at least one episode in), and I hope that the quality (and the ratings) stays high.

What do you know? Non-reality television shows doing well.
Who would have thunk it? |
I hope that this is a trend and people start slowly turning away from "reality" shows.
There's just so much that one can take! |
hopefully alias doesn't screw up the trend when (if) it returns in jan. (knowing ABC and their promises.

NBC didn't even crack the top 10!!

Good to see quality television be rewarded with high ratings.

MNF doesn't hurt

What is the big deal about desparate housewifes?
It looks like some cheesey soap opera from the 80's. A chic show. Just because the women are hot does not mean it is must-see viewing. |
I thought the same thing, but when I saw it, I loved it... there's more to it than just a bunch of hotties running around (althought that doesn't necessarily hurt!!). It is a pretty dark comedy, as well as having some mystery and drama.
I'd highly recommend checking it out; I really didn't want to watch it, but once I did, I'm now psyched for the next episode.... |

Exactly. Anyone who thinks this is the same thing as Dallas, Dynasty, or even Knots Landing is either A) not familiar with 80s primetime soaps or B) did not watch Housewives. |

I have to say both Desperate Houswives and Lost are great in HD.
Simply stunning. |

Can I bash it if I watched it and was bored to tears and found it lacking any redeeming qualities (save a great cast)?

Originally posted by clemente Can I bash it if I watched it and was bored to tears and found it lacking any redeeming qualities (save a great cast)? atleast you have an opinion formed about it that wasn't just pulled out of your ass. So bash away. The big deal is that ABC has a solid sunday night line up while all the other networks right now are just flopping away that night. I'm positive the debates effected this ratings ranking. But ABC finally looks like it can pull up from it's nose dive in ratings and shows that it has been going through in the past few years. |
Originally posted by MrX It wouldn't be a real TV talk thread without people who have never seen a show showing up to bash it:lol: 1. Conforming to the current fashion; stylish: chic clothes; a chic boutique. 2. Adopting or setting current fashions and styles; sophisticated: chic, well-dressed young executives. |
exactly.. if it is half the show Dallas or Dynasty was, it will develop a huge female viewership... and I hate to say it, but if there is 1 TV in a house, women will usually get to control it for "their show"

It's just ABC's turn to top the ratings. The cycle continues...

Welcome to the 70's ;)
