Sweet, Affleck rules

I know a lot of people don't like his acting and movies, but you gotta admit he can be a pretty funny guy, especially when he makes fun of himself. His bit with Gigli on SNL last year was hilarious

I'm sorry but they could have done a lot better than Affleck, IMO. He's one of the worst. His political involvement is just ridiculous.

Agreed. I think he really gets a lot of residual crap because of his involvement with J-Lo.

Yeah, but they could have done a lot worse than Affleck, too. I think he is pretty good SNL host.

As for his political involvment, why is it that all democratic actors who even express their political opinions are labeled as idiot hollywood liberals, but republican actors are all encouraged to be as vocal as they possibly can be, and become 2-term presidents (Reagan), leaders of the biggest republican lobbying group, the NRA (Heston), or help remove and replace fairly elected democratic governors (Arnold) ?

Funniest pretty boy leading men:
1. Alec Baldwin
2. Ben Affleck
3. David Duchovny

At least from what I've seen on talk shows and such, they are the first ones that come to mind. They're always a good interview and have no problem poking fun at themselves. I'll have to remember to watch this one.

Affleck rocks as host, what are you naysayers talking about??? As soon as he started busting out those T-shirts last time he hosted, I was hooked....he's a terrific host! How can you not enjoy someone who is so willing to make fun of himself?

Mary-Kate and Ashfleck!

Affleck will be a good host, but he was just on this past March. Why do we get the same people over and over? If I ever again see fucking John Goodman as host, I'm going to scream.

I like Affleck and think he's a funny guy, even though I don't agree with his politics. I agree he was on too recently, but SNL always does that. Steve Martin hosted so many times the first few years that most people think he was a cast member and John Goodman has averaged a show a year for the last dozen years or so.

According to a press release, Rob Riggle (Upright Citizens Brigade) is joining the cast... and Queen Latifah is the Host and Musical Guest (Scissor Sisters have been dropped).

Here's a pic of Rob:

Press Release about Season 30:
Season Premiere October 2 to Feature Ben Affleck and Musical Guest Nelly
October 9 Features Oscar Nominee Queen Latifah as Host and Musical Guest
Jude Law, Ashlee Simpson, Eminem also slated for October

Rob Riggle joins as Featured Player

NEW YORK -- September 30, 2004 -- In addition to welcoming Ben Affleck and chart-topping musical guest Nelly, SNL will debut a new cast member – Rob Riggle-- as it kicks off its 30th Season on October 2 (NBC, 11:30 pm – 1:00 am ET).

Sketch and improv comedian Rob Riggle joins the cast as a featured player on the Emmy Award winning comedy-variety series.

A regular performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City, Riggle has made several appearances on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and was the "Culture Coach" on Comedy Central's "Straight Plan for the Gay Man." Born in Louisville, Kentucky and raised in Overland Park, Kansas, prior to his career in comedy, Riggle was in the United States Marine Corps. He served in five real world operations including operations in Liberia and Kosovo. Following September 11th, 2001, Rob was called back to active duty and served in Afghanistan.

The line up for the show's premiere month is hot with Queen Latifah taking on host and musical guest duties on October 9 and Jude Law hosting on October 23 with music from Ashlee Simpson. Finally, on October 30, SNL welcomes musical guest Eminem with a host to be announced later.

Returning to the show are Fred Armisen, Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey, Will Forte, Darrell Hammond, Seth Meyers, Finesse Mitchell, Chris Parnell, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Horatio Sanz and Kenan Thompson.

"Saturday Night Live," which premiered on October 11, 1975, is from SNL Studios in association with Broadway Video. The creator and executive producer is Lorne Michaels. Steve Higgins produces. Marci Klein and Mike Shoemaker are producers. Beth McCarthy Miller directs.
So here's the updated schedule for October:

SNL 10/09/04 - H & MG: Queen Latifah
SNL 10/16/04 - Best of... Jimmy Fallon

Gigli and Top O' The Mornin' sketches from last season were personal favorite Affleck highlights for me. Fred Armisen (sp?) had Ben going during the Gigli sketch. Still have it in my DVR...

I also hope they make a BIG deal about it being the 30th season. Maybe old cast members make appearances? Clips from the old days?

*Still hoping for an Eddie Murphy appearance*

Sorry, Affleck wasn't in Phantom. Perhaps you are thinking of Billy Zane in The Phantom? Yeah, he was good.

But, as has been mentioned earlier in the thread. Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms.

(Why is it we can never talk about Benny without mentioning that line?)

Any predictions on skits?

Bush/Kerry debate
Dan Rather mess
Ken Jennings' win streak on Jeopardy
Britney Spears (easy target)
Debbie Downer? It was probably the most talked about skit from last season.
Oprah's car giveaway - A similar skit was done when Megan Mullally hosted, but SNL recycles skits endlessly.
Martha Stewart on the way to jail

I think we are going to be treated to a visit on the set of Jersey Girl and they will work Frondi into it somehow.

That or the return of Motorcycle Cop and Sidecar.
