Originally posted by Vonner Was anyone else bumbed that there was only one challenge, and two tribal councils in this episode? I thought it was rather anti-climatic. The challenges are the best part of the show to watch, not tribal council. By the time tribal council comes around I have a good idea who's getting the boot 90% of the time anyway. These two were no different. I'd much rather see more of the tribe dynamics and challenges, and less tribal council. |
Originally posted by RandyC Agreed. The twist to have the winner join the other team was interesting... but the rest of it, I thought was not good. I also didn't care for the individual immunity this early in the game. It appears to me that it was a producers move in an attempt to break the two strong alliances. Didn't work. |
I don't see the point of it. It can't change alliances since the same number of people vote. They could pick any one person to have immunity and still the alliances will vote the same, just possibly for a different person.
There must have been a different reason. They decided to have two people voted off because the numbers were too big. So then there was no point in having an immunity challenge. So throw in individual immunity to give the team a reason to compete. Though really, unless your head was on the block, there was not much of a good reason to win. So to that end, I think it was silly. Having John pick the other immunity person was interesting but silly. And yes... let's move some people around. The show needs it. Split into 3 tribes. Resuffle the decks by having the players change buffs... something. |

I am still going to watch every episode as well, but I have to agree that this Survivor is just not on the level of past seasons. I do think it's inevitable that a season will come along that just doesn't have the magic. I felt that way about Amazon, and ended up missing most of that season. Then Pearl Islands came along and restored my faith in the show.

Originally posted by RandyC Why do the men keep confiding/talking to Sarge? Do they think he will change his mind? The alliance is a done deal. The only hope is that he gets soooooo upset with Rory that the alliance falls apart. Not very likely. But Rory will be the first to go once the younger guys are all picked off. As for how the season is shaping up, I agree this looks to be the worst ever. There are no real likeable characters so far IMO. Also, the average intelligence of this year's tribe members seems to be lower than usual and only looks to get worse. It may make for some entertaining mental/puzzle-type challenges though... |
Usually I'm hooked after the first or second episode and I agree, it's shaping up as a "no one to root for" kinda season. So far Chad is the only one I care about, and it's cause he has one leg, and is kicking butt. But that's kinda a sad reason to be rooting for someone in this game, usually you go for the smart, cunning person that is "playing the game" but I see none of that.
Oh well. We will see how it goes... |

Didn't a one-legged guy win the first Big Brother? He'll probably be voted off soon because people will think he's a threat to win at the end. Although they might feel guilty for voting off a guy with one leg (although that didn't stop the catty bitches from voting out the deaf girl.)
I wonder why they only have people with disabilities on the Battle of the Sexes seasons? |
I find the women so generic that I can't keep the younger ones straight. I have no idea what young ones were in an alliance, and who flip-flopped. I read the names in the thread but I still don't know.
I just watched it now, since I don't really care if I see if when it airs or not. I generally read about it online before I get a chance to watch it. The main reason I am still waiting it is because my girlfriend wants to keep up on it. Once the OC starts, I am outta here. I might keep taping it and watch it when I get a chance, but the OC definitely takes priority over this very dissapointing season. |
I can never keep track of everybody until they finally merge. That's when the show usually gets more interesting. This episode was lame because half of it was tribal council, but at least two of the idiots got voted off.
Was JP the one that lost the grappling hook? I'll be glad to see Rory go too, but I'm fine with JP going first. I'm glad we don't have to watch Mia starve herself anymore than she has. |
My first thoughts on who Mia resembled were that of the actor named Stephen Geoffreys from 1985's vampire flick, "Fright Night." I've tried but have not been able to locate a pic of him to post here. He was the young teen who was bitten and became a vampire himself. had the spiky hair and seemed to spit a lot when he talked. The resemblance is uncanny!

For me one of the problems has been that this season has by far spent the least amount of time on the actual survivors. The first episode was a waste of time, and this week's was similarly a waste, what with the double challenges and two votes. There has been precious little showing of the interaction between the contestants. Hopefully this will change and we will get to better know these survivors.
Particularly Julie and Ami. |
Man the women really suck in this season, glad Mia got the boot, she was a bitch.
|
The women aren't nearly as bad as the last time they did men vs. women. Now that Mia is gone they might quit arguing so much. At least this group got some work done instead of sitting around chatting. It probably helps that Twila doesn't have a femininime bone in her body.

Did one of the guys really say when they learned Dolly was voted off, "Barbie's gone?!?" Sure sounded like it.
|
Yup. I couldn't tell who said it, since I kinda fastforwarded through it, but someone in this thread said that it was Sarge.

Originally posted by Jackskeleton If eliza goes, so does my boner. The women's tribe is pretty pathetic- hopefully they'll at least be competitive, especially after the men vote out all the "threats." I was glad to see Mia go and I am looking forward to the hypocrite fight next week- but this season seems fairly dull so far overal. |
That and the fact she looks like Skeletor with those eyes and her eyebrows are waxed into the shape of Thors Hammer.
|
I can't wait till the hunger hits them and you see their bones. :p Nothing like fake boobs on starved bodies.
you must really have a thing for chicks who talk way too much |

I'm really having a hard time getting into it this season. The challenges are not anything special, and they have demonstrated that they can have good men vs women challenges in the past. The players are not compelling and the women don't do anything for me.
