Supes doesn't even need the spacesuit. In the early issues of the Frank Miller run he was wearing just an oxygen mask.

The suit is a holdout from the older Silver age run where he lost his powers. He would also wear a suit to deal with Kryptonite.

If JLU ever has an Ambush Bug episode, I will immediately volunteer to be the entire Warner Bros' animation deptartment's pivot man!

I said Kyle and another GL. I haven't followed lately, but making Hal go crazy and then having him become The Spectre was one of the worst decisions in DC history. That and killing off Barry Allen/Flash.

Fate is higher up in the pantheon of heroes because he's "god powered". Captain Marvel also is in this class. Supes and the others have no defense against magic.

I always thought Supes was physically the strongest, then MM, Lobo (immortal because Heaven and Hell don't want him), Valor, Orion, and a few others.

The DCU is a strange place because there are so many gods, goddesses and various magic users. It's hard to gauge just who is top dog. Then there's the Vertigo line which sometimes intersects with the normal DCU (Swamp Thing, Animal Man. John Constantine, Phantom Stranger, Death, etc).

good post. I love the DC Universe.

What JLU should do in a few eps is have stories where the heroes are matched due to abilities. They could do an all magic ep featuring only Magic based JL folks or all Non-superpowered ep.

After all the descriptions of these gods, godesses, and magicians, not to mention various versions of heroes and retellings of stories, it sounds too complicated :( Plus, i always enjoyed the Marvel heroes better, so if i were to ever get back into comics i'd probably start there (although the 'Ultimate' retelling thing turns me off there too *sigh*)

Hah! DC Gods to Marvel's freaky mutunts are for kids bullshit is a no brainer for me. :p

Someone didn't see "This Little Piggy" ;)

In any case, here is some HUUUUUGE freak'n news that got me happy as all hell:

Morena Baccarin, who plays Inara Serra in the Firefly television series and upcoming Serenity movie, is providing the voice of Black Canary in Cartoon Network's Justice League Unlimited.

Black Canary will be featured in the Season 4 episode, "Double Date," which is written by Gail Simone. The episode also features Kin Shriner as Green Arrow, Amy Acker as The Huntress and Jeffrey Combs as The Question, along with some other guest voices to be announced.

Baccarin is one of several Firefly/Serenity cast members to lend their voices to Justice League Unlimited.

As previously reported, Nathan Fillion is voicing Vigilante and Gina Torres is voicing Vixen. Adam Baldwin is voicing a villain in the season finale.

"We're so lucky to get these people. And they're so happy to come and play," Justice League voice director Andrea Romano told The Continuum. "And when they work their schedules out so we can get them in the room at the same time, we also get a better product and they have a better time."

In other Justice League Unlimited news:

* Mindy Sterling is providing a guest-voice in an upcoming episode. Sterling is perhaps best known as Frau Farbissina from the Austin Powers movies.

Melissa Joan Hart will reprise her voice roles of Dee Dee for an upcoming episode of Cartoon Network's Justice League Unlimited.

Hart last voiced the roles for the Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker movie.

Best known for her role on Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, Hart also did the voice of Saturn Girl in Superman: The Animated Series. Hart also provided two voice roles for Sabrina, The Animated Series.

Batman Beyond and Static will both be guest-starring in "The Once and Future Thing, Pt. 2," the season finale of Justice League Unlimited.

Will Friedle is reprising his role of Batman for the episode.

I'm exicted!

I mnissed Piggy as well. CN reruns stuff forever anyways.

JLU is clearly skewed towards older DCU fans. Maybe this will get them to issue boxed sets? I'd love to watch this with a nice anamorphic transfer.

Batman Beyond??? :up::up::up:

Wholly crap! The return of future Bats!!!!! Woooo, that's freaking sweet!!!!

Hokeyboy 09-22-04 01:08 PM

How about a Legion of Super-Heroes crossover?

Which spins-off into a Legion animated series, as an ongoing serial?

I'd definitely be their pivot man, and bring my own pillow!

Big Boy Laroux 09-22-04 02:05 PM

any chance we'll see lobo in an episode? if i remember correctly, he was in a regular JL episode a while back, right?

Eric F 09-22-04 02:14 PM

Lobo was in an episode last season.

Will we see him again? I'm surprised they didn't bring him in for this week's as he got his butt kicked by the robot in the comics. Funny stuff.

I don't like the idea of bringing in Bats Beyond and Static because of how JLU is skewed towards the older DC fans. Probably bring them in in some "alternate timelime/parallel universe" concept.

I would like to see the Crime Syndicate (anti-JL) from Earth2 again. It's practically guaranteed we'll see the [lobomotized] Doomsday from that episode again.

Red Dog 09-22-04 03:24 PM

So I see this Saturday is a repeat. Anybody know when the next set of episodes will be starting up again?

I did see it. However, that ep didn't do what I was talking about.

You just don't like batman singing.

Finally saw the ep.

Dr Fate has earned even more respect from me and I've always liked the character.

ktan1 09-27-04 03:14 PM

Question,
In the end credits, I thought I saw bizarro Superman. I don't remember an episode w/ that character. Is this a future episode?

I know that during the open credits they show highlights of the ep about to air so I wondered if the same thing you were wondering. Perhaps it is a future ep....

Well...

Spoiler:
They're appearing in the last episode, and it takes place in the future. So they're not being brought in as part of the present JLU, but as part of the future JLU

And I want new eps. Tivo has repeats for the next 2 weeks (For the Man Who Has Everything on 10/2, followed by Hawk and Dove on 10/9)

Jackskeleton 09-28-04 09:10 PM

New episodes start the first week in november I believe. so repeats away!

What about our question???!!!!
Come on, somebody gotta know.

Jackskeleton 09-30-04 04:51 PM

Those scenes are from the future episodes. Simple as that.

In other Justice League news:

* Ally McBeal's Peter MacNicol is providing a villainous guest-voice.

* John C. McGinley returns to voice the Atom in "Dark Heart," written by Warren Ellis.

* During the end credits for "Return," scenes from future episodes were shown, including such characters as The Ultimen, Bizarro and Aquaman.
