The Blunder Twins rightly deserved to be the ones eliminated this week, for I couldn't believe they chose to do the "search the mud for the clue" over the white water rafting. Remembering how difficult it was looking for that scarab should have clued them in that this task probably wouldn't be any easier, unless they get extremely lucky, but they chose to do it anyway. I wish Myrna and Charla had still been around instead of those dolts, for I bet Charla would have tackled those waters head on and because I miss the squabbling between them and Colin

Originally posted by Edison I still hope Chip and Kim win it all! I guess tonight kinda answered a question about the yield I didn't realize that the teams have to choose a team to yield before they get the clue therefore not knowing how many teams are behind them. So in theory they could yield a team that was already ahead of them and not know it? Nobody see the irony that Brandon opted to go to Hell's Gate? Nice of the editors to put the Heavenly Music in when Brandon was praying out loud. Too bad God missed the cue to send down a narrow stream of sunlight, illuminating the spot where the clue lay. This episode might have made Red Dog a little happier, not that Linda & Karen placed second, but that the term "Bowling Whales" looked appropriate. I kid, I kid. It was nice to see them feeling the rush of coming in second, tho. I would have totally geeked out on this round if I was playing. I would have referred to the big hamster ball as a Rover from The Prisoner and when getting to the Pit Stop and being welcomed to New Zealand, would have asked, "Thanks, where are the Hobbits?" Sorry, I just had the mental image, when the teams were running up the hill, of The Shire just beyond it. |
Originally posted by RKillgore Nope, actually it clarifies how the yield is done and that a team can't choose to yield another team that's in front of them. Chip was going to yield the Twins thinking that the Moms were behind them both. But when he got to it and found out that the remaining team pictures were just themselves and the Twins, he had a change of heart, realizing the Twins were actually in last place. After a team passes a Yield, their picture is removed from the box, maybe by the team's camera crew. |
Originally posted by Chew IF only two pictures remained, why did Chip seem so shocked with only one clue left in the box after he took his? I think that's where he found out the Moms were ahead and not the Yield. |
Originally posted by RKillgore So, we're back to no one knowing how the dang thing is supposed to work unless you absolutely know that a team is behind you. Simple. |
Perhaps we should all just agree the Yield is really stupid and shouldn't be carried forward to the next season. :D

Originally posted by The Demon Man, I'm really hoping Chip wins this thing, but he needs to have a talk with his wife! She has to start helping out, that poor guy does everything. Yes, a lackluster episode. What idiot picks the needle in a haystack mud thing over the water thing. Sure the water is cold, but you are wearing a wet suit so how bad can it be? How come nobody can follow a map in New Zealand? |

Was this the first stop where the team actually begged while on taking the pit stop? That was good thinking.
As stated before, I don't see how any team would choose a task where they would have to find something hidden ... especially when it is the dirtier of the tasks. The same problems with hidden things apply ... now knowing where/how deep to look. I was curious how long it took the twins to find the clue, considering it was night by the time they were done. I may be alone, but I think the yield adds an interesting dynamic to the race. Right now, no one has used it to this point because they either weren't sure who exactly was behind them, or they simply didn't want to be the first people to use the yield. I can imagine how tempting that yeild looks now that there are only a few teams left ... and there is going to be some animosity towards whichever team uses it. |
I was surprised as well that the twins didn't do the watersports challenge instead of the mud. I mean they freakin' swam across a river that was less than two feet deep at its shallowest! I figured that they loved the water!

I like the yield also. It would have worked perfectly as it should if Chip would have used it on the twins last nite.

Been rooting for Chip & Kim the whole time, hopefully they can make some better decisions next week (such as using the yield/learning how to read a map). |
Originally posted by movieking I was surprised as well that the twins didn't do the watersports challenge instead of the mud... The twins' fate was decided when they got lost on the highway (before highway 1) and were chasing Chip and Kim. |
Originally posted by icondude I also think the yield is only for a couple of minutes anyway. |

Been rooting for Chip & Kim the whole time, hopefully they can make some better decisions next week (such as using the yield/learning how to read a map). Now, once they realized they were behind the Moms and it was actually a battle for fourth and last places, then yes, it turned out to be an error. But knowing what they knew at the time, it was a good call. |
They were some fun tasks today, and thats what NZ is apparently all about adventure sports.
The sledging looked easy, well to my eyes anyway, and the Zorb, simple. lots of fun |
I thought they said at the beginning of the season that the Yield would result in a thirty minute delay for whichever team was picked to do so.

Originally posted by icondude I think they should do away with the making teams beg for money since if really hasn't hurt anyone yet. |
that might not really work, how do you beg when you set out from the Gobi desert at 2am, when there are only Touareg tribesmen around
|
I would love to be on this show. The sledging and zorb looked like huge fun.

I totally want to Zorb and sledge now.
Great episode. I can't wait to see Colin's breakdown next week. |
