Star Trek = Good Next Generation = Good Deep Space Nine = Good Voyager = Shit Enterprise - Newer Shit |
Voyager and Enterprise aren't all that bad
|
Enterprise is set before all of the ST series. TNG and DS9 were going on at about the same time. Voyager was a tad bit into the future of the ST timeline.
|
Next Generation -- years after Star Trek ended
Deep Space nine -- Same time frame as Next Generation only on a station and a few years after the start of Next Generation Voyager -- Few years after start of DS9, but in anoth part of galaxy. Enterprise -- Set before Star Trek when human race was just starting to explore. Also pre-federation. |
thanks a lot. is it possible to start with next generation or ds9 without having watched the original star trek.

Voyager and Enterprise are both horrible television shows. They are just godawful. The ONLY reason I think Enterprise is better than Voyager is because the entire cast of Voyager sucked hardcore. There was not one single goddamn character on that worthless show that I felt was good or interesting. I enjoy the cast on Enterprise except the writing is just shit.

TOS-- Kind of cheesy and definately dated. Plus Captain Kirk talks weird.
TNG--Entertaining but episodic, so hard to get really hooked. Worth watching and okay to watch out of order on tv. DS9-- Long story arcs, especially in the later seasons. You have to watch in order (dvd's recommended), because the story is kind of serialized. (My favorite trek.) Voyager--I've tried to watch this, but I keep falling asleep. Enterprise--I've seen about two episodes, though I've watched it a few times (bad luck hitting repeats). Set before TOS. While a neat idea, to me the show seemed really, really dumb. |

I'm watching Voyager now for the first time as the season sets come out (as I did with DS9) and I'm quite enjoying it. I watched TNG as it aired, but for some reason at the time couldn't get into DS9. Now I probably think DS9 was one of the best series, with TNG a close second, but I'm still quite enjoying Voyager. It's all new "Trek" for me, and that makes me happy ;)

Originally posted by Deftones, Esq I don't know if I'd go to that extreme. TNG is the best, far and away. Enterprise and Voyager have had flashes of brilliance, but they are few and far between. I actually don't mind Voyager. It's nowhere near as good as what came before it, but if you go into it expecting a mediocre show, you won't be disappointed. It's a fine way to kill a rainy Saturday afternoon if you have nothing better going on. And I'm a fan of Jeri Ryan's characters. |
Originally posted by MEJHarrison I'd totally agree. TNG is easily the best. Well, after DS9 that is. And TOS. But it's easily the best out of Enterprise and Voyager. Far and away. |
Originally posted by Ginwen Sure, but the original series is the best of the bunch, so why would you want to skip it? :thumbsup: |
TOS = Good
TNG = Good DS9 = Bold Going...NOWHERE! Voyager = Gilligan's Island in Space Enterprise = Never seen |
and don't forget, DS9 and TNG are shown back to back at 1pm est on spike

most of the other shitty shows on tv
more than a few episodes of TNG sucked hard too |
heh lots and lots of responses :)
out of the startreks i wanted to see ds9 and tng. do i need to know background from one or the other to watch either or can i just start with either one. |
Does DS9 ever get better? I watched it a bit in the beginning, but nothing ever happened.
The entire show was spent on the station. To me, it was like watching Young & the Restless or any other soap set in space. |
ds9 is great once the dominion is introduced
when the war starts it gets even better |
