Your favorite broadcast network?

If you had to choose between NBC, Fox, CBS, or ABC, which would you choose?

I would pick NBC because of the great shows in the 80's and they have the best sports anchor Bob Costas and the best newscaster Tom Brokaw plus the logo looks cool.

where are WB,UPN,PAX and PBS? ;)

CBS- college basketball, SEC football, NFL, The Masters, and David Letterman.

Last year I would have said NBC. But with the current line-up I would have to go with CBS.

A few years back my answer would have easily been Fox or WB. But now, I just don't know. Based on hours of shows I watch (or now, PLAN to watch - not counting stuff I haven't heard about yet) I have CBS and Fox at ~4 hours apiece, NBC at 3.5 hours, WB at 3 hours, and ABC with ~1.

Alan Smithee 08-24-04 07:06 PM

DuMont is my favorite network.

Derrich 08-24-04 10:44 PM

Not to sound like a snob but PBS is the only broadcast network that really surprises me with good shows. Since I have no idea what their schedule is (does PBS even have a weekly schedule?) whenever I turn to it I'm like 'wow, this is good'.

One night they were showing an episode of Coupling, another time I saw something about Galileo's daughter that was fun and another was a two hour show trying to prove that China had discovered America. All good stuff.

CBS: college basketball plus that haven't canceled a show I was watching in quite a while

Red Dog 08-25-04 08:34 AM

Frankly, I don't know. They all have more minuses than pluses.

B.A. 08-25-04 08:40 AM

I would like to say ABC or FOX, but they have both cancelled so many shows over the past few years that were some of my all-time favs.

raven56706 08-25-04 08:42 AM

Fox- The Simpsons, Arrested Development, American Idol, That 70's Show, 24,

PalmerJoss 08-25-04 10:17 AM

Fox, for the exact same reasons raven56706 states(except for American Idol).

Draven 08-25-04 10:32 AM

Fox has two of my favorite shows (Arrested Development and That 70s Show) but I hate everything else about it.

NBC has Scrubs and CBS has CSI and ABC has Alias, so I can't really pick a favorite. I definitely hate Fox the most though.

fumanstan 08-25-04 11:02 AM

Fox easily. I hate CBS, NBC's best shows are gone, and ABC just has nothing interesting.

King Jaspo 08-25-04 11:05 AM

WB for Smallville and Everwood.

icondude 08-25-04 02:08 PM

Fox, but if I had cable it would probably be a porn channel.

Jackskeleton 08-25-04 02:25 PM

Fox, they pay me to say that.

wendersfan 08-25-04 02:55 PM

PBS

I don't watch a single show on NBC, ABC, CBS, or FOX.

The orginal poster seems to be asking what is your favorite ALL-TIME broadcast network, and I'll have to agree with him and choose NBC:

Cheers
Seinfeld
Frasier
Friends
The Cosby Show
Family Ties
Sanford and Son
Star Trek
Miami Vice
The Tonight Show
Late Night With David Letterman
Saturday Night Live

Yep, you're right, my bad. In that case, CBS, hands-down, if only for their Saturday night lineup, circa 1972-73:

8:00 - All in the Family
8:30 - M*A*S*H
9:00 - The Mary Tyler Moore Show
9:30 - The Bob Newhart Show
10:00 - The Carol Burnett Show

Surely the greatest evening of TV in the history of the medium. I wonder how many combined Emmys those shows won?

SPiRAL 08-26-04 09:57 PM

Fox
Comedy Central
E!
MTV Jams
Style
Bravo

Darkfriend 08-26-04 10:23 PM

All time? NBC

If I had to choose now? Sadly, Fox
