Groucho 08-17-04 09:57 AM

A sheep farmer named "Dolly." They're making shit up.

taa455 08-17-04 10:03 AM

2 highway construction people? What are the chances?

Groucho 08-17-04 10:06 AM

I hope there's a challenge that involves standing around for 8 hours holding a STOP sign.

Judremy 08-17-04 10:12 AM

"Neely says that Jesus Christ is her ultimate hero because he is the savior for all. While she would give up her sheep for six months in order to get a $1 million, she wouldn't do anything that would jeopardize her spot in heaven."

Well, she isn't going to win...

I think one probably works for a construction company and one probably fills potholes for the state/county.

A couple of good-looking girls in there - Dolly and Julie.

Chew 08-17-04 10:22 AM

An FBI agent? Interesting.

Both work for their state DOT. You're right about the girls. :eyebrow:

Then they don't build roads - they stand around and do jack-shit. Most likely they fill potholes for a living.

I thought they bumped up the number of contestants to 18 only for All Stars because of the three tribes. Should we expect at least 18 contestants from now on and will it still be divided into three tribes?

I hope so. I found that format a lot more interesting.

movieking 08-17-04 11:05 AM

Seems like an older crew this time. Thirteen of them are 30 or older...

Huh, Julie is from Gorham, ME according to her bio. Why, that's right down the road from me.

This might warrant watching Survivor again this year (I haven't tuned in since Season 2.)

Ugh. I hope not. It's so much more watered down with three tribes. You spend five minutes with each tribe. It sucked. Also, with two tribes it's so much more adversarial, like "We gotta beat those guys." With three it's like "we gotta beat, uh, those guys... and, also, those other guys, maybe."

Or filling a quota.

Besides Dolly, none fo the women look particularly attractive, at least from the head shots. Julie needs to take the stupid piece of cloth off from her head.

From the poll:
What behavior is best for winning SURVIVOR?
Being devious 15.61%
Being sweet 3.78%
Staying under the radar 80.61%

Is Vanuatu anywhere near Xanadu?

On the serious side. I haven't watched Survivor since season 1 because of the Thursday night NBC lineup.

I might check this season out as there isn't much on Thursday nights now besides Scrubs and ER.

Early people to root for me is the Loss Prevention guy at Walmart. That job probably has a lot of headaches if he works in an area that gets a lot of thefts. 1 million would do nicely for him and his family.

I have to read more about the others to see if there are others I will root for.

Iron Chef 08-17-04 12:21 PM

Wow. There's a black guy in Des Moines.

Struz 08-17-04 12:50 PM

Dolly looks cute.

This time there's an amputee, Chad, for the first time.
Could effect challenges but it says he completed a trialtholon
9 months after surgery.
I hope he does well.

Nice to know that there are finally some out lesbians in the mix.

Dolly is ugly. Not "ugly ugly," more like "Mary-Anne on Gillgan's Island ugly."

Further descrptions on a couple of the castaways:

Chad Crittenden, a teacher from California, is an amputee who lost part of one leg due to cancer and wears a prostheses. Nine months after the surgery, Crittenden completed in a triathlon. Crittenden has been cancer-free for almost two years.

Dr. Scout Cloud Lee is a former university professor and author of eleven books. Her work in helping motivate people to "identify and repeat their personal excellence" has been featured in documentaries and television specials. In 2002, Lee carried the Olympic torch. Lee is another cancer survivor who was diagnosed with melanoma 14 years ago.

Dolly Neely is a sheep farmer who views Jesus Christ as her hero because "he is the saviour for all".

Leann Slaby, the research assistant from Wisconsin, donated one of her kidneys to her father when his kidneys began failing due to diabetes in 1998.

Travis "Bubba" Sampson, the 33-year-old loss prevention worker from Tennessee, used to be a pro-wrestler known as "Romeo Bliss". He worked for WCW and the WWE.

Lea 'Sarge' Masters is a 40-year-old drill sergeant.

Scout and Ami are lesbians in committed relationships back home.

"Survivor: Vanuatu" finished filming earlier this summer and will debut on Sept. 16 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS. Vanuatu is known for its tropical cyclones or typhoons, its volcanoes, it's roots in slavery, sorcery and cannibalism as well as being the birth place of bungee jumping.

Struz 08-17-04 01:02 PM

Julie is not so bad either:
