2 more seasons, eh? Sucks, but still glad it's going to be around for a bit longer.

It had a good run

Originally posted by Michael Corvin cough simpsons cough. I'm sad that Trey and Matt are ending the show, but they're the creators, so more power to them. Let's hope after Team America, the two put a lot of time and effort into the final episodes. I want to shed a tear that final episode damnit! :) |
I have stopped watching this in the past season or two, but damn, did they have some great episodes in the past.
|
 Trey is so full of shit! I would not take that as a definite, they are going to be around for awile longer; especially after Team America or whatever it's called bombs.

That hella-sucks
|
:(

Until I see a press release it's not true... Dave Chappelle said he wasn't doing a third season. $50 million can change your mind pretty quick though.

Originally posted by Matthew Chmiel Do you think Comedy Central will give Matt and Trey $50 million through? Who says it'll bomb? I'll watch it just because it is from Matt and Trey, but I figure it is going to last about as long as "Thats my Bush" or whatever it was called. |

Where's Abranut when you need him?
Well, Team America looks great, and the show just keeps getting better and better. I'd love to see it around for longer than 2 seasons, but I wouldn't be suprised if it ended soon. If they want to go out on top, probably a good move from them. But then again, it's Trey... could be longer. |
10 years, eh? Not bad for something people didn't expect to be around for 10 weeks.

But then again, it's Trey... could be longer. This is what I know. Their contract has South Park going into 2005. I've heard M & T comment about wanting to get out of doing the show as opposed to signing another contract, but that means very little. Reaching 100 episodes meant that they reached the minimum amount to reach syndication, which means they will make money off South Park for the rest of their lives. They may reconsider when Comedy Central comes back with another fat 2-year contract, or they may just be talking out of their asses because they are burnt out on doing this movie right now. I'm sure to them, the thought of doing another run of South Park right now is quite horrifying. Those two guys work more than anyone I've ever seen before, and they won't be getting a break between the film and 8-10 new episodes (and our S.P. production runs are super work intensive). All I know at this point is when I'm going back to work in the fall (early October). I'll keep you guys posted if I hear anything. It'll probably hit the internet before I hear anything, anway. :o |

Wasn't South Park supposed to end a few years ago as well? Then they signed the new contract.
I doubt this will be the end. At worst, maybe they do South Park movies instead every 3-4 years or so. |
I'd like to see at least 1 more South Park movie.

Originally posted by Matthew Chmiel Hey, if Alien Vs. Predator (which in my opinion, "looked stupid") could open to $40 million, so could Team America. :) And Team America is one of my most anticipated films of the year. |
especially after Team America or whatever it's called bombs. Great for a show to go out on top which is rare these days. |

Originally posted by mikewendt It's a movie not a TV show... You know that right? Why would you compare it's run to "That's My Bush"? I really don't see what market they are trying to appeal to. I don't think this will be a Gigli bomb but more like a oh...Jersey Girl bomb. I say 25 mil tops if they are lucky, but more likely 10-15 mil range. The South Park movie was released at the peak of their popularity and they only made like 52 mil, Basketball on the other hand made 7 mil; I fear the same thing that happened with Basketball will happen to Team America. |
Lateralus-
To be fair, they've never made a non-South Park movie while South Park has been existence. Baseketball was a David Zucker movie. M & T had little input on the script and only starred in it. Their films are Cannibal, Orgazmo (which was made before South Park), South Park: BLU, and Team America. TA is in a interesting position because nothing like it has really come out before. A theatrically released adult puppet movie? Meet the Feebles didn't have a wide release. The film is a ludicrous concept, but that's the point. It will have a fringe cult following initially, but word of mouth on this movie will be very good. I've read the script and seen a lot of the footage. People will be quoting this movie for a long time...:) The movie budget (last I heard) was about 40 million. It will easily make that back, but that doesn't mean that Paramount isn't sweating in anticipation. It really could go either way. |
