"Have you been in a dance-off before?" "Oh yeah, I'm like 7 and 0."

As always, this episode was so good, although I wish the dance-off had been a little more spectacular. This show is so good that I'm even laughing during the eviction ceremonies when nothing funny's going on, just thinking about what's happened and what's going to happen.

I figured that one of the twists at the end of the series was that Piper and Austin would choose each other, but I didn't guess that it was actually a part of the fake show.

Loved the runs, loved the dance-off, loved when Gerald blew out TJ's candle. Funny, funny stuff. Next week looks like it's not to be missed.

Don't forget about the video montage of
Spoiler:
Montecore.

Rico Diablo 08-03-04 01:39 AM

Every week I can't believe how funny this show is. On paper the concept sounds so stupid, but the execution is fantastic. I love the throw-away bits like all the James Bond references in Derek's Falcon Twist speech.

"This ought to scare the living daylights out of you. Love is as precious as a diamond. And we all know diamonds are forever. But love sometimes is not. Tonight, fate will point its gold finger at two of you........Austin and Piper choose to sever their emotional bond from you and the world is not enough to save you. The rest of you have a chance to die another day. You have a lot to think about. The Falcon has spoken."

nny 08-03-04 02:12 AM

I loved that the last shots of the episode were of Montecore and the frog.

I love this show. It's much better than the first one and definetly a better parody.

Patman 08-03-04 09:11 AM

Am I the only one who thinks he's seen Amanda on some other show or movie?

Too bad Cammy got the boot.

Next week's Tuesday finale is going to cause a bit of time-shifting pain for me. Will need to adjust some other recording down on the priority list.

Ben732 08-03-04 09:15 AM

I think Tim is catching on... He made comments in this episode, especially during the dance-off about it being setup. And the same comments were heard again during the previews for next week.

Good thing it's almost over.. :)

atlantamoi 08-03-04 10:12 AM

We'll just pretend on this Falcon Twist.... we'll edit in Montecore later!

I hope they go for a 3rd season of Joe. Great material.

nny 08-03-04 05:00 PM

Was there any reason Ausin evicted Cammy? I imagine they want Ingrid to be on for the finale, but did Austin, the character, have a reason to vote her off?

nope. no reason.

derek asked austin to address cammy and he just looked at her and said "sorry." no explanation.

This show is consistently hilarious. TJ having diarrhea was great. Last season centered around Matt so much and the way he reacted that I thought this season would suffer, but it has had a number of classic moments. Too good.

LB: As someone said, he just said sorry. I was waiting for him to say something like, "I don't like playing with my food especially when I have Pork and Beans".

The Bond speech was great.:thumbsup:

Another terrific episode btwn Bryce's outburst, the audio of Bryce rubbing out Montecore, the runs, the dance-off, and the candle controversy.

The finale should be great.

Finally, Cammy in that dress during the eviction ceremony.

FYI - the finale is next Tuesday from 9-11. Also, for those like myself, who didn't start watching this from the beginning, SPIKE is running a marathon of the season leading up to the Tuesday finale starting at 1 pm.

What's up with you? You're always playing catch up with this stuff. :) Good God, man. If you can find time for The North Shore ... :D

This season has just been brilliant through and through. Everything has been spot on, especially the editing. I love how they time the quick cuts to the cheesy drum music and then go way over the top with it. Last season was funny with all the stuff they put Matt through, but this season they've really hammed up the parody aspect, and it's been fantastic. These writers really know their reality TV, and this has definitely been a treat for those of us who watched all the crappy subjects of their parody over the years. Great stuff.:up::up:

I loved the Gerald/Austin montage when Piper mentioned that there was a "person" out there for him.

I laughed out loud a number of times last night. I loved the first one but I never laughed as much as I did last night.

Great work.

I don't know anybody watching this show. I'm going to tape the whole marathon and force everybody I know to watch this.

das Monkey 08-03-04 10:47 PM

I've tried for two years to get my coworkers to watch it, but they're just not buying it. I can't get them to watch Arrested Development either. It's for this reason that my automatic response to the phrase "there's nothing good on TV" is a kick in the groin.

DRG 08-03-04 11:43 PM

I figured the eviction of Cammy was a subtle jab at the way many of these Bachelor-type guys mess around with the slutty ones early on, but boot them near the end.

It's getting to be fun pointing out what shows they're spoofing.

Bachelor/ette - the general premise, the dead grandparent

Joe Millionaire - the use of jewelry at the eviction (maybe from other shows as well?)

Meet My Folks/Who Wants to Marry My Dad - the lie detector

Temptation Island - the Piper/Austin couple thing

Chains of Love - the chained together contestants

And next week based on the preview,
Spoiler:
Average Joe - the fat suit

Any others I'm missing?

Groucho 08-03-04 11:44 PM

I thought the dead grandparent was "Survivor," or did somebody lie about that on "Bachelor" as well?

turborobb 08-04-04 12:45 AM

Did they film JS2 before JS1 aired? I'd love to see a JS3, but who would fall for it now that the show has aired?

nny 08-04-04 02:27 AM

It's probably going to get harder and harder to pull stuff like this off, but I bet most people haven't heard of either Joe Schmo. They could probably even give them a list of reality shows and ask them which ones they watched, which ones they're familiar with, and which ones they've never heard of.

I also think when you're experiencing it, the whole situation is foreign and you're less likely to detect deception unless you're looking for it. Ingrid may have been more observant just because she was try to figure out what twists they were going to throw at her. The average person might just enjoy the ride and not try to figure anything out.

Frankly, I never really knew about the show. I had barely heard about it, but thought SPIKE TV? :hscratch: I don't recall ever seeing any threads about it (or the first one). The only reason I started watching was I saw a promo for the Porked & Beans episode showing Cammy giving the lap dance. I caught a repeat of the episode prior to that one and was hooked.

Patman 08-04-04 09:13 AM

To be fair, I also caught the lapdance/Porked-n-Beans episode, and then caught up with the other 4 previous episodes and have been laughing ever since. I've even gotten office co-workers hooked on the show, and we have a good laugh on Tuesdays talking about all the insane and absurd funny stuff packed into each episode.
