How many ways are there to say "It's whitey's fault?" That's how many episodes there will be.

How many R. Kelly jokes can one show do?

Boondocks - 103 - Garden Party

Not too sure when it is really supposed to air but on Adultswim.com on Friday nights, you can watch it before it comes out. All I have to say about it is, wow, that was pretty funny. I am glad to see a show like this push some boundries. I can understand why the 3rd episode was aired first, now. Probably sets the tone of the rest of the series.

I missed the showing, but it will be playing again monday night and tuesday.

Do they go by western or eastern time? Or central? Or mountain?

I just watched it online via adultswim stream. What a great idea. Better than to use torrents in my opinion. Every station should just stream their television shows.

I set my DVR to tape this Sunday night so I can't wait. Glad to hear some early positive reviews.

This is a pretty good strip. Hope the show is good too.

Also hope it's more Chris Rock and less Kanye West.

Grandad: Now, I don't want you to use that N word in this house.
Huey: You just said it 38 times.
Grandad: ***** please.

Great stuff.

i love this strip and just found out the other day that the show was actually airing this weekend (I had heard a while back that a show was in the works).

Should be edgy and i think the art style should lend itself greatly to animation.

[email protected] raincoat!

I like where they're going with this, but I wish they got somebody else to do Huey's voice. Regina as Riley sounds all right to me though.

Caught this tonight and must say that I thoroughly laughed my ass off. Very funny, I loved that they used Charlie Murphy as the voice of ed asner's grandson. His crazy ranting was the best.

I'll keep watching.

Good stuff.

This paired with the Venture Bros. (another 30 minute show) would be one great hour of TV.

So why can they say "*****" on this show 50 times but Kanye West's song Gold digger the word is edited out?

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who doesn't like Huey's voice.

I literally rolled to my side when I heard it. I think it's more like:

Grandad: Now, I told you I don't want you to use the N word in this house.
Huey: But yesterday you used it 46 times.
Grandad: (extending index finger) ***** hush!

I thought the gateman at the party was a bit overdone. My main concern is the animation.

It is AWFUL. Awful awful awful. The drawing/art is great, the backgrounds are great, but the animation is more stale than 1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoons. I've seen tons of Flash animations done better. I really hope this is just them testing the waters and they'll improve on it in the upcoming weeks/months.

Watched it this morning and it was hilarious. I agree that Huey's voice just doesn't jive with what I thought his voice would sound like but what can you do. The opening garden party riot had be rolling and grandad brought the funny just like he does in the comic strip (the naked tae bo )

Maybe because "*****" does not rhyme with "goldigger"--only "******" does.

EDIT: as in ***** vs. ER

Nice to see Charlie Murphy get some work, but I just wasn't feeling this.

didn't realize it was actually the third episode. as someone else mentioned, i think this was a good choice to be the debut episode.

the gate attendant was definitely too much. i wasn't offended by it, it just wasn't funny.

Huey's voice was bad at first, but it grew on me. but i agree it could be A LOT better.

The Boondocks "The Trial of R. Kelly" 11/13/05

Searched for but couldn't find a thread for this.

Is anyone watching? I saw the "first" episode "Garden Party" which I heard was originally not supposed to be first.

I thought Aaron McGruder did a good job here. He definitely intended to rattle people's cages with this one. I also get the sense that he probably wanted to be even more honest but probably ran into walls with the network execs.

He little girl from the strip finally makes an appearance here.
