Re: American Dad! (Fox) -- Season 11 Thread

I enjoyed Jeff's return episode. Episodes are definitely hit or miss.

Will the next season continue the Golden Turd Saga or the return of "Mind Quad!"--I kind of doubt it.

American Dad

What's the deal with TBS not airing the new shows in HD? The look like garbage in comparison to Cartoon networks 7 year old AD shows.

Re: American Dad

Just bad HD I guess. I can see the "fuzzy" lines around the faces.

If you get time compare the TBS show with the Cartoon Network HD shows, the differences are big IMO

I've noticed it as well, though all of Cartoon Network's HD feed looks remarkably clean and brighter than most networks. It's not just American Dad.

I think the TBS feed has fast motion prioritized over clarity, if that makes any sense.

I thought new episodes were already airing? My DVR has been recording episodes each week for 3-4 weeks now.

Ah, I see. Apparently they aired the second half of Season 13 starting in February. Last week was the end of Season 13. Tonight's episode beings Season 14.

I don't watch the show, so I was just reporting what I saw as the "season premiere".

Re: American Dad (now on TBS) -- from the creator of Family Guy -- Discussion Thread

According to Wikipedia, it's the premiere of season 16:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._Dad!_episodes

However, according to the production codes, they're only up to production run 13.

Also, Wikipedia's season 11 is crazy short, as FOX quickly aired the last 3 unaired episodes of production run 8 before the switch to TBS.

Damn, that's confusing. IMDb says Season 14. Might as well go back to not bothering discussing.

Re: American Dad (now on TBS) -- from the creator of Family Guy -- Discussion Thread

Yeah, American Dad's seasons listing have been a disaster for a while. That 3 episode Season 11 seems to really through things for a loop.

Based on Production codes, Season 13 started on April 15th, which is Season 14 per IMDB and Season 16 per TheTVDB,

The quality has been on a pretty steady decline since Mike Barker left the show in 2013, but then again not many shows make it to Season 13/14/16 without a pretty big drop in quality.

I've found the TBS version watchable, if not quite as consistent as before.

I only watch the new episodes sporadically but I think American Dad! is still better than Family Guy personally.

I still watch American Dad.
And yeah I’ve been recording new eps for a month or so.

Also I think Roger might be the funniest and cleverest character that Seth has created.
So versatile, he can be anything on this show. Plus I’m pretty sure the voice is a take on Paul Lynde

I still watch as well. I think I actually like it more than when it first started...probably not so much because it got better, but because it grew on me.

I think I read that was the case somewhere back in the day. This is an example of what I mean by the show growing on me: I couldn't stand Roger in the beginning because I thought the character was a cheap device to make coming up with plots much easier. But now he and Steve are my favorite characters.

Seth has explicitly stated that Paul Lynde is the inspiration for Roger's voice.

The new season began tonight. Did I hear correctly that American Dad's end has been set because of shuffling network executives over at TBS due to the AT&T purchase? Might be the last watchable animated comedy on cable/television.

Wouldn't surprise me, but for now it has been renewed through Season 18 which will air in 2022. This and Rick and Morty are the last two I still really watch.

Re: American Dad (now on TBS) -- from the creator of Family Guy -- Discussion Thread

It was an episode mainly about Jeff, not one of my favorite characters. I'm not sure hitching Hailey to Jeff all those years ago was a wise idea. Roger's b-plot produced a couple of great gags but maybe should have been the A-story.
