something has been bugging me about band of brothers.

ya know. this was televison at it's finest.

it brought a rollercoaster of emotions from me. most of the time, i just in awe of what these characters had to go through. and couldn't help think that this was a pretty good depiction of what really happened.

i could forgive the little 'oddities' about the project. even though i absolutely loved the casting decisions of damian lewis (dick winters) and rob livingston (lewis nixon) i was little wary of seeing david schwimmer (...sobel) playing anything but a comic buffoon.

but he grew on me as the self-absorbed and sadistic capt. sobel. i came to accept his role and was able to put aside his friend's character and his characters from the goofy movies he had done.

other characters popped up and i said 'hey...i know that guy'....and they melded perfectly into their roles and i believed them.

but then, i'm watching 'crossroads'. easy company is out of supplies. they're tired. they're hungry. they're outnumbered. and they have to defend the crossroads at bastogne.

and that's when they hit me with.......jimmy fallon.

what the **** is jimmy fallon doing in my emotional rollercoater?!? his stupid ****ing, perpetually smirking, no talent puss shows up at the defense of bastogne?!??

you know how someone remade the phantom menace and edited out the jar jar binks crap?

i'd pay good money to have jimmy fallon digitally removed from band of brothers. any takers?

Jimmy Fallon is actually a good actor, and he doesn't wreck the role he's given in "Band of Brothers" (considering it's only a couple lines, that would be hard to do). For example, check him out in Almost Famous.

If I remember correctly, he was only in the show for 30 seconds or so. If he sat in a fox hole in Bastogne and giggled while shells fell from the sky, I would have had a problem with it. But, as much as I despise Jimmy Fallon, he wasn't around long enough to annoy me.

I remember seeing his little cameo in the series and it didn't bother me at all either.

I was wondering who could possibly be so upset over such a small, insignificant role. Then I noticed Crankyman's name.

You beat me to it. When he's actually acting (read: not on SNL), he's not that bad.

i don't think he had even 30 seconds. yet his stupid smirking face almost ruined the entire miniseries. yep. hate him that much.

Although we certainly did not need him in this series, the above is pretty much how I felt about it.

I had completely forgotten that Fallon was in BOB, so his presence didn't bother me at all.

I think Crankyman is obsessed with Jimmy Fallon. He's in love and doesn't want to admit it. That's why he overcompensates this way.

It's okay, Cranky, no one here will judge you.

Funny, I am rewatching it now for the 3rd time. And this week was the first time I noticed it was Jimmy Fallon.

It did take me out of the moment... for about 2 seconds.

This is indeed perhaps the finest TV I have ever seen in spite of Jimmy.

"Got a penny?"

"Got a pen-ny?"

I love this series. I cannot wait for the pacific theater series. I recognized Fallon right off, the first time I saw it. Seemed very strange but didn't ruin anything for me. I think at the time I was still more upset that Wahlberg was in the entire thing.

Crankyman: At least your utter hatred is for a bit actor. My skin crawling hatred is for Ben Stiller (who I understand has made some seriously funny movies) I cannot watch him. Ever.

Oddly enough, when he started out he played a bit part in another Steven Spielberg World War II project, Empire Of The Sun.

I agree. I didn't even recognize Jimmy Fallon in Almost Famous and he's got a pretty important part and very memorable entrance. He barely has a cameo in Band of Brothers. If you want to be bothered by a familiar face you don't like, try Donnie Wahlberg. But then he did a great job, as did Schwimmer. I wasn't as surprised that Schwimmer did such a good job. It must take some doing to play Ross all those years.

I'm surprised to see the criticism for Wahlberg come up. He's easily one of the best actors of his generation, and completely nailed his part in BoB.

The cast overall was great, and that's what made boomtown the show it was, wahlberg, mcdonough, and even guarnere in there.

Testify, brother! I feel your pain, and it also my own.

As far as the also-loathsome smirkin' Jimmy, just remember: even armies doing some of the most important work ever done by anyone in human history had some assclowns in them.

It's regrettable, but undeniable.

I agree Donnie did a great job in Band of Brothers but I didn't even remember ever seeing him in anything prior to Band of Brothers other than New Kids on the Block. I see that he was in The Sixth Sense, but I haven't even heard of anything else he was in other than Ransom, which I haven't seen. Were you thinking of his brother Marky Mark of Boogie Nights, Perfect Storm, Three Kings, etc.?

No, I'm thinking of Donnie. He's great in everything I've seen him in.
