Should I get Starz! or Showtime?

Now that the Sopranos and Deadwood are over I am going to drop HBO since I have seen all the movies they are showing that I want to.

Should I pick up Showtime or Starz to subscribe in place of HBO?

Are any of the Showtime series any good?

Thanks

If you like movies, Starz is the shiznit.
I haven't ever seen a Showtime series, but I don't get the buzz like I do about HBO stuff.
My money would go to Starz.

If it's for high-definition, Starz is much better. Right now LOTR TTT extended is on.

By the looks of your email you subscribed to HBO for the originals- So I would go with Showtime- Because of there originals. Dead Like Me is going to start it's 2nd season next month- I think the show is a good show. I would rent Series one first so you can keep up with the rest of us ready for season two. Check out WWW.SHO.COM
You don't mention what provider you have, but if you have Digital cable, Dish, or Directv that will proabably include the multiplex versions of Showtime and maybe other movie channels (Sundance, Flix, TMC. etc.)

I don't know about their HD channels, but both of them will split screen the end credits on SD channels so you can't hear the music. It aggravates me so much because the idea was to subscribe and get it all uncut (excluding screen format and theatrical/director's cut issues) and commercial free, not to see promos about Pirates/Carribean and how to get a gift card for signing up when I'm already a subscriber! They just defeat the purpose when they do that. The time to do that is BETWEEN programming!

I had Showtime for a while and the movie selection sucks. The worst I had ever seen. I'd go with Starz

Well, thanks for the opinions. I have directv and do not have a HD receiver. I decided to go with Showtime, at least for a month, because I wanted to watch Penn & Teller: Bullshit!. I am thinking of switching to Starz! in a month after I have Tivo'd all the movies I am interested in on Showtime.

Like someone said Starz for movies.

Barbershop was released in 2002 and it premiered on Showtime in Feb 2004.

i thinl Showtime only shows Paramount, MGM, and Lions Gate movies.

Starz has movies from Touchstone, Universal, New Line, and they show more independent features.

Showtime - they feature one of the best shows on television in Penn & Teller Bullshit (which will be returning in August).
