SPOILERS Smallville S4 SPOILERS

From DarkHorizons:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news04/040616a.php

Spoiler:
Young Lois Lane Required

Margot Kidder had the everyday clumsy charm, Teri Hatcher had sex appeal and smarts in one package, now someone is needed to fill the ample high heels and tough attitude of the one and only Lois Lane - or at least a younger version of her.

No this is not one of those endless casting speculations about who'll be playing the Daily Planet reporter and love interest to a certain Man of Steel in the upcoming "Superman" movie, rather it's talk of her predecessor on TV's "Smallville".

KryptonSite reports that a casting call has gone out to agents for the role of Lois Lane, a "recurring guest star for the first four episodes" of Season Four of the show which premieres this Fall. Like the Lois we know and love, she's described as "caucasian, smart, beautiful, urban, headstrong, and no-nonsense. An army brat raised by a US General which made her tough as nails, and hides her vulnerability with sarcasm and wit".

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR SEASONS 1-3

Unlike the character though this will be before Lois gets into journalism. At this point in her life, Lois is in her early twenties and has no interest in journalism. She's in Smallville to investigate the apparent death of her cousin - the regular character Chloe (Allison Mack).

An announcement is expected soon. This year of the show will also see the inclusion of a new regular - Jason Teague. Teague is a sexy, handsome Metropolis rich kid with a love of football, jetting overseas for the Summer, and pursuing a degree in education.

She's probably too exotic looking, I expect a bit more white-bread caucasean gal.

Too bad Eliza Dushku's doing "Tru Calling".

If Kate Beckinsale was 10 years younger, I'd suggest her for the role. Actually, she should get some consideration for a Superman film if/when that ever gets off the ground.

No, she's not. It says Lois's father is an Army General - he could have married an exotic foreigner and had a kid w/ her as he was trotting around the globe.

And I hope they dress her like the way Lois is dressed in Superman TAS.

So, I guess they wasted casting Kristin Kruek as Lana Lang when they should have used her as Lois?

I don't see why. I think she fits that girl-next-door role pretty well. You bring in the heavy artillery (drop dead gorgeous) for Lois.

I'm sort of bummed because they'd already used one of my picks in an earlier episode of Smallville:

Missy Peregrym - formerly of Black Sash fame, and played Molly in "Delete" as the brainy gal working for the slimey doctor.

That's BS. Why can't they just put a call out for "smokin hot chick, smart, urban, headstrong, and no-nonsense"?? This is the kind of crap from hollywood that pisses me off.

Isn't this just furthur messing with the Superman mythos? I thought Clark and Lois never cross paths until he goes to Metropolis.

I'm not crazy about Clark meeting Lois in his teenage years either. To me it means the writers don't know how to fill up Clark's senior year with interesting stories that don't rely on his romantic future.

How about Lindsey Lagon? She's the IT girl since the release of Mean Girls. I bet, that will increase the viewership big time!

Jessica's definitely got "the look", but she's never impressed me as a particulary good actress. I'm guessing we're going to get a newbie in this role - someone we've never heard of.

According to this http://superherohype.com/superman/index.php?id=1718, the Hollywood Reporter is reporting that someone named Erica Durance will be playing Lois. Also, there's gonna be a new regular character:

Spoiler:
Meanwhile, Jensen Ackles has been added to the cast as a regular. He will play the stubbornly independent heir to a rich Metropolis financial firm who becomes romantically involved with Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk).

I just checked IMBD. She has only appeared in two shows. One episode of Tru Calling and one episode of Andromeda. No pictures on the site.
