Which Satellite Provider?
 

Hey all.

I just moved into a new place and was wondering which television provider I should go with. I've had directv in the past, and I liked them...but it seems like Dishnetwork is a bit cheaper.

I'd probably go with one of their DVR packages, but with Directv DVR you get TIVO, not just some knockoff.

What are your experiences with these two companies? Any recommendations? I'm looking to spend ~$60

If a DVR is what you are looking for, no question that the DirecTivo is the way to go.

I can't imagine life before DirecTivo.

I have DishNetwork. I've never been happier with any company I've dealt with, ever.

No. The Echostar (Dish Net) takeover bid was nixed by the FCC, so Robert Murdoch (Fox) swooped in to take DTV from GM. FCC said it would have created a monopoly.

I have DTV and their Tivo package and love it. Are the MLB and NFL packages available on Dish yet? If not and your a sports fan of an out-of-town team, DTV is the way to go.

I know the MLB package is available on the Dish, not sure about NFL, though.

Dish Network does NOT have the NFL games.

And will not for at least 5 more years. If I'm not mistaken DTV just signed a 5 year extension this past fall.

I am happy with Dish and the Dish-PVR.
But remember, don't expect Dish's dvr to be like Tivo, you program it like you would a VCR.

Dish has better international options, DirecTV has NFL Sunday Ticket and a better PVR. I've got Dish, and I'm completely satisfied. Other than that, I haven't heard complaints from either one and so its up to you to decide what sort of programming you want and compare prices.

DirecTivo is reason enough to go with DTV.

I have had Directv since 98 and DirecTivo since last September. I would not have it any other way.
