About time! I'm really curious to see how Alan Ball's reuniting with Mena Suvari works out this season.

Wow. Great opener. Very emotional. And I was wondering what was going to happen with the death at the beginning.

What a tough episode to watch. Very emotional from start to finish. Sure, it's depressing. But it's the best acted drama on television now. Welcome back! Oh, and I loved Keith's line about feeling like he's been eating cake for twelve months. Very funny.

Great premiere tonight. Loved how hey tied the opening death into a meaningful plot-point. Nate looks like he's well on his way to winning an Emmy this year.

Dammit, that is as close as I could possibly get to crying during a piece of entertainment.

One of the most emotionally heartbreaking hours of tv i have ever seen. If Krause doesn't win the Emmy this year it's a crime.

I know they submit 1 or 2 eps for review. Edie Falco won based on last season's Sopranos finale.

Great to see SIX FEET back again.

SFU can't be nominated for an Emmy this year, unless the season three finale can be submitted.

Storywise, I thought the season premiere felt more like a finale to last season than the start of a whole new season. Wrapped up Nate & Lisa, wrapped up Claire & Russel, wrapped up Keith hating his job, wrapped up Rico's wife's sister overstaying her welcome in their house.

It didn't start any new stories. Looks like all the new stories (Claire's new friend Mena Suvari, Keith's new job, Nate / Brenda / Her neighbor triangle) start next week.

I have a feeling next week's death will end in a "-2004" and it will be many months after last night's episode.

Also, was James Cromwell's name moved from the guest cast portion of the opening credits to the main cast?

Ted - please spoiler-ize your "new stories" section. I didn't know about Justin Theroux's plotline.

Glad this show is back. I completely disagree with the EW review. This show is great. I loved almost everything that came out of Claire's mouth - "I'm so sick of everything being so fucking awful all the time!" That just hit me so hard in terms of these poor folks. This show is just so awesome!

Is Sunday now "Must Sad TV"?

Ted is right, it did feel more like a finale. But I don't mind because it tied up the loose ends nicely. A friend of mine pointed out to me that Ruth is now the only happy character at the moment. What a switch eh? Everyone else is either grieving, isolated, confused, lost, etc.

In a way it did, but I liked the fact that this season picked up on the same day where last season left off rather than skip over several months.

Having seen it now, I am willing to bet that there will be a big passage of time in the next episode or so. Did anyone else notice that Mya was never shown? I bet they need to age her character a little too. Keeping the adult actors looking the same is much easier than keeping the same baby looking 1.

Gotta love Keith's line about feeling like he had been eating that wedding cake for the past 12 months.

I'm pretty sure next week's episode will skip over several months.

It's funny 'cause it's true.

Did anybody else notice that the actress they got to play Lisa's sister looked A LOT like Lisa?

Ok. I feel REALLY stupid right now. But maybe i wasn't paying enough attention since i was playing poker while watching last night (came in 2nd in a multi-tourney! )

But my GF and i both had NO idea how the beginning tied into anything else. Anyone want to clue me in without cutting me down too much?

The guy who died in the beginning (in 1972) was the guy whose ashes Nate used to give to Lisa's parents. When they showed David cleaning up downstairs, he threw the ash container in the trash and it said it contained the remains of that guys's name, and it had the 1972 date on it.

I remember awhile back on the show, they showed that David & Nate had a shelf in the basement with ashes of people that no one had ever picked up.
