24 Season 1 question (spoiler)

My wife is thinking of blind-buying 24, Season 1. The thing is, she can't stand watching anything with graphic depictions of rape, or things which dwell extensively on rape. I know one of the characters is raped during 24 Season 1 -- is this graphically depicted? Is it something that happens once and then the characters move on, or is it something they keep coming back to over the course of the season?

They don't actually show the rape, they just show one of the henchmen take Teri Bauer into a room, and you assume that's what happens. Nothing is shown. They do touch on it later in the season, a few times.

Like, hbo said. They don't show anything, but Terri kinda goes with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it isn't rape, but it isn't your typical violent, fight back, man overpowering the woman movie type rape. She goes along with it to save her daughter the humiliation.

Related question: Does Kim ever tell Jack about that? I'm fairly sure that Terri never got the chance to, but did Kim at any point?

It IS a broadcast television program so it obviously isn't going to be R-rated stuff nor The Shield. Personally I love this show, but I would not recommend it as a blind buy. Get Netflix and rent it... you can see a few other titles (or another season of 24) in the process. I don't think 24 has much replay value once you've seen it - it is total pulp that doesn't require multiple viewings to appreciate (unlike say The Sopranos or Alias where things from previous seasons come back).
