Deadwood 06/06/04

I swear if Ian McShane isn't nominated for Al Swearengen, it will be a travesty. And if he doesn't win, thats an even bigger travesty! His speech to his new 'lady' at the end was priceless.

You s*** my d*** and shut the ***** up!

That's exactly what I was thinking for the last half hour of that episode. Give that c-sucker his f-ing Emmy and let him do his acceptance speech in character :D

"You got a stage to catch, honey? Slow down!" rotfl

I'd have never believed Lovejoy had this in him. Live and learn. I third the endorsment of him getting some hardware.

I'll say it again. 'Al Swearengen'...best character on TV right now.

"The only time you need to open your mouth is to suck my prick."

Give the man his emmy already. I'm really surprised how this show turned out, I never thought I would enjoy it so much.

Just realized who Geri Jewell is, the handicapped cleaning woman at the Gem.

Cousin Jeri from Facts of Life!!!

Pardon my ignorance if this has been discussed on these threads before - but this is a new one to me!

Again, a consistantly good show.

Arrrgh! I can't stand that the only three shows I watch on TV are ending/ended.

Buck Turgidson 06-07-04 07:13 PM

That's the cool thing about HBO: Six Feet Under kicks in next week, so we go from The Sopranos and Deadwood to another great, groundbreaking show (which, admittedly, has ground to make up after a so-so year last year, hopefully back to the dizzying heights it reached in S2), and we have the best show on TV, The Wire, looming somewhere on the horizon.

We will look back on Sunday nights in this era as a Golden Age at some point in the future after Rupert Murdoch buys HBO and replaces all of this with Donald Trump shoving cooked sugar beets up people's asses for the amusement of their spouses.

I agree, his character is one of the most charasmatic I've seen in a long time. He IS Al Swearengen.

He showed his softer side last night. "You don't have to swallow, you can go spit it out."

The big softy.

necros 06-07-04 11:11 PM

Al rocks. Thanks to him and Mr Wu, i've found a new love for the term "********er".

wendersfan 06-08-04 07:46 AM

Did anyone else notice that Ricky Jay wrote Sunday's episode? Impressive.

Meteu185 06-08-04 09:45 AM

Another great episode - I agree whole-heartedly with the Emmy nod for McShane.

Really? You'd think he'd put himself in it more :D

Yeah, he was only in that one scene at the end. Given the quality of Sw'ingen's monologue at the end, I hope he writes some more episodes next season.

After he said that BF and I looked at each other and said "Aawwww, that's so sweet!".

Yes! Hanging with Mamet has apparently rubbed off on him. Wonderfully done script.
