I know that exists with cats (the "chimera"/two sets of DNA thing). I'm not sure it exists with people. But it's certainly possible. Same theory and all.

Patman 05-20-04 10:03 PM

Sarah, you lush!

Gasspasser 05-20-04 10:08 PM

as for the realism of this ep. From what I have heard is that it does happen. Interesting twist.

I liked it tonight.

Patman 05-20-04 10:10 PM

When they started talking about Chimera, all I thought about was "Mission Impossible 2". Sad, but true.

My thought exactly!

"I'm sorry and you're sorry."

A side note, looks like Greg has something up his sleeve considering the reaction he had to Gil's 'groom your replacement' line...

Now that's a cliff hanger!

I was thinking the same thing. I'll admit it.

mikehunt 05-20-04 10:29 PM

he'll find some goth chick
twice now I've made a CSI thread and the shift key only registered on the fist letter

MrX 05-20-04 11:22 PM

It does exist in people though it's exteremly rare. It happens like they explained, fusion of the embryos, and it can also happen if fraternal twins share a placenta and stem cells move between the two. My biology degree is useful sometimes:)

As far as the episode, underwhelming finale to a underwhelming season.

Chew 05-21-04 06:03 AM

It was certainly a more interesting case than some of the recent ones, but I was hoping for a more important ending.

BDB 05-21-04 06:25 AM

and no mention of Gil taking Sara 'home'

Hit it Gil

FrankTheTank 05-21-04 08:00 AM

Could someone please tell me what happened in the last five minutes, my power went out around 9:55.

Chew 05-21-04 08:08 AM

The doctor admitted to both of the rape/murders. Sara was walking with Nick on the strip, obviously in a "happy" mood. She congratulated Nick on his "almost-promotion". Then it shifts to the police station and a cop is telling Grissom that Sara had been picked up for DUI, but under the limit. Grissom tells Sara he'll take her home.

Geofferson 05-21-04 08:38 AM

Best episode of the season last night, IMO. Though I too wish that the ending had more of an impact.

Thanks.

Cusm 05-21-04 09:01 AM

The doctor also said there were more, but they would get to that later.

Michael Corvin 05-21-04 09:05 AM

Was this the finale? I forgot to tape last week and this one. D'oh.

I still can't believe this many people saw MI 2!?! -eek-

Anyway...as far as the ending goes, I can't keep all the alchoholic characters straight (Sipowitz on NYPD. Abby on ER etc.) is Sarah not supposed to be drinking? What was the big deal with her being barely one point over (the new lowered) legal limit?

BDB 05-21-04 09:36 AM

Brass took her to task on her drinking earlier this season I think it was. He said he could recognise the signs, as a recovering alcoholic himself.

Oh yeah, that epsiode was "The One With The Cough Drops".

*** crickets ***

Actually it was the Feb 19th epsiode "Early Rollout" (link).

The whole team must investigate a crime where a husband and his porn star wife were murdered execution style. Things get personal for Catherine when Grissom talks to her about her evaluation. Brass believes that Sara may have some type of problem.

mikehunt 05-21-04 10:20 AM

I'm pretty sure she was over the limit but it had just been lowered from .1 to .08 so they gave her a break

Patman 05-21-04 10:39 AM

Sarah blew a 0.09%, which was just over the .08% level that just went into place, thus the break.

Would never happen.

Professional organizations, especially Law Enforcement, NAIL DUIs to the wall. It's one thing to get caught speeding, but engaging in an activity that could get some body killed?

You're over. Your professional progress is finished .

Prediction: Next season, Sarah gets in a car wreck after drinking and both Gil and Brass end up resigning.

Um no. It doesn't work quite like that. Many officers keep their jobs if they get a DUI. Usually it requires some form of suspension or demotion. I've seen it many times.

I wish I could forget I had.

Enjoyable episode.
I hope the whole Alcoholic thing with Sarah isnt going to be part of the plot next year.

Big Boy Laroux 05-21-04 05:28 PM

my friend, who is about to start his residency, called this one as soon as they found the hair on the woman's body that matched the doctor's DNA.

bigdogkt2003 05-21-04 07:10 PM

Greg will move to the field next year and he will find a replacement.
Then after next season when William Peterson leaves the show, Nick or Cathrine will get promoted to head CSI.

Chauzer 05-22-04 04:03 AM

why is william peterson leaving the showw?

Patman 05-22-04 08:01 AM

Maybe's he's bored with the show or how his character is not developing.

Well, he was pissed that they did a spin off CSI: Miami. He thought it hurt the "integrity" of the show. He's always talked about leaving, but he'll still get paid if he continues to contribute since he's an executive producer.

Da Thrilla 05-22-04 03:16 PM

VERY good ep.!

mikehunt 05-22-04 08:58 PM

wonder how much the NY spin off will piss him off
Miami is a shell of what Vegas is

They may keep their job, but will they ever see another promotion (assuming they don't perform some wholly miraculous action at some point in the future)? I did say _professional_ progess.

William Petersen has not said he was leaving the show...his contract is merely up at the end of Season Five. Trust me, CBS will find a way to re-up him for a few more seasons. He's also a producer on the show, so losing him would mean more than just losing his character. CSI without Gil Grissom would be like X-Files without Fox Mulder...and we all know how that worked out.

I don't think Petersen was as upset with the new series as much as he was with the producers using CSI to launch CSI:Miami (he felt in underminded the work they were doing on the show)...that's why in the CSI show that introduced the CSI: Miami characters, Grissom doesn't go to Miami in that episode.

Red Dog 05-27-04 08:49 AM

That was a good finale, although I could do without the personal story of Sarah being a drunk - that never happens in police dramas.
