Anyone going to watch this? I caught the commerical for it last night on Las Vegas, and it looked interesting. I don't believe in mind reading, but at least NBC admits that this guy does "acts of mental persuasion" -- like a magician. Does anyone know anything about this Gerry McCambridge guy? Does he try to pass himself off as a psychic?

I find these programs interesting because of the manipulation that these so-called mentalists have over others. It is nothing more than an illision, and I find it interesting in trying to figure out how it is all done.

I love those "____ called, they want their ____ back" lines. I wonder who invented it.

That would be a great book, tracking the etomology of various phrases that have entered the mainstream - though I doubt it would be possible to figure out the originator(s) of too many.

Richard Lewis will tell you he invented "The ____ from hell" phrase.

I just saw the show. This guy is amazing. How does he do it? Unless the audience are in on the con with him, I don't see how else to explain it except that he does have some mental power.

My, this is terrible. He's not even good at hiding it. I'm not finished with it yet, but he's already screwed up the Britney Snow trick, which makes me wonder why they even aired it. And the twins thing was about as subtle as me in a <i>24</i> thread. With the arms, he didn't even come close to touching the first twin on the left arm with the flower, but got the side of her right arm with another object. Then on the shoulder tap, while distracting with the flower, he tapped the other twin at the same time. I can only assume that the thorn poking was rigged into the chair, especially since the second twin grabbed the underside of her opposite leg when she jumped, which didn't match the thorn at all.

It's 4am, I'm sleepy, and I can expose his tricks while only half paying attention. And this guy gets a primetime slot? Wait ... he's staring intently at someone now ... ooo, he must be reading her mind!!! What a goober.

I got sidetracked over in Otter and just watched the Failure (state pick) segment. Who would have thought he'd have something lamer than the other tricks? You can even see his plant marking the states while he distracts the audience, and then checking to make sure she has them right before handing him the panel. :lol:

The blindfolded ride through the street was silly too. After holding up the blindfold to the streetfolk, he flipped down the thick panel before putting it over his eyes. You can clearly see the division of the panels. Then he only held up a small portion of the adhesive to the streekfolk, and that portion was wrapped around his forehead. Who knows what the material was like that was actually covering his eyes.

I'm going to use my mental powers of persuasion to forget I ever saw this. Still can't believe it was NBC. This is easily Fox programming, or better, UPN.

I'm watching it now... I'm loving it and will watch it again.

I guess we are the minority who like this show. Some people complained how obvious the trick is. When I watch the show, I was amazed and couldn't figure out how he does any of the tricks.

I figure if it's fake, I can't tell. People go watch magic shows even though there's explanations for all the tricks. As long as I'm entertained and amazed, it has served its purpose :D

Somewhere I read that he performed the magazine trick on one of the morning shows and the same words were chosen and one of the people was from the same home town.

He tears the paper in half the wrong way. It's only a matter of luck that the word she chose happened to also be on his sheet. Of course, you could believe that he mentally forced her to choose a word that was also on his sheet, but since every other trick was so obviously rigged, it's unlikely that he has profound telepathic powers and saved them for that specific moment, yet couldn't figure out which way to tear the paper.

Knowing that something is fake doesn't bother me. I have the greatest respect for a great slight-of-hand artist, and I love a good illusionist. This clown, however, was not a good illusionist.

Actually I took it as it didn't really matter which way he cut the paper. Does it really matter if he gets the word right? How does that mess up that he got the same word?

How were the other ones obviously rigged? I was totally fascinated.

this show was useless.

i've seen penn and teller do these tricks for years.
i'm surprised he didnt bend a fork.
he wasn't even as good as the guy from about 20 years ago that did the fork thing.
amazing randi would laugh at this guy before he wasted anytime debunking him.
