Anyone want to compare "Undeclared" to "Freaks and Geeks"?

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I saw practically every episode of "F & G" when it aired on NBC and loved it. However,
I never caught a single episode of "Undeclared."

Just wondering if anyone that has seen both shows would care to offer a comparison. I bought "F & G" without thinking twice, and would certainly pick up "Undeclared" if it was deemed to have
merit.

I have heard that "Undeclared" is more
of a straight comedy. But, I am wondering if it also allows the viewer the same ability to relate to the characters and the situations like "F & G". Does it also have the nostalgia factor?

I think I've seen every episode of Undeclared. The basuc difference is one is high school the other is college. A couple of the same people are on Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. In one episode Will Ferrell takes speed and writes a term paper. It was funny but never had a shot.

F&G was definitely drama first, comedy second, whereas Undeclared was comedy first and drama second. Different types of shows really. I can't really think of a show that was much like Undeclared, but I tend to compare F&G to The Wonder Years.

Interestingly, the two shows shared two actors. I don't recall their names right now, but they do a pretty good job transitioning from drama to comedy. Its a shame neither show stuck around.

Seth Rogan (Ken on F&g) starred in this show. However, nearly everyone from Freaks and Geeks shwoed up. Bill, Kelly, Neil, Nick, Sam...

No thank you, but I appreciate the offer.

I loved Undeclared! If you can imagine Scrubs - Freshman Year of College, that would be a lot like Undeclared. It was that funny, and it had a similar love story going on as well.

The main thing it had in common with Freaks and Geeks were the familiar faces and excellent writing. It was present day, so they used current music (another thing it has in common with Scrubs)

I loved undeclared when it aired, but I recently downloaded all 17 episodes and revisited them. Overall, I thought all the characters were cliched, and the storylines were pretty weak. Mostly, I felt that the 30 minute time limit didn't fit the format well. Some episodes they would advance the storylines, and others, they would go for the easy joke, then next episode act like it didn't happen at all.

For example, they make a big deal about whether Lizzie slept with Adam Sandler or not. At the very end, Lizzie tells eric, her boyfriend that she did, and eric says that he would have slept with him too if he had the chance. Funny, yes, but totally not in sync with the character.
