I was totally annoyed by this episode. It's amazing how the writers want to simply ignore Emma now. I mean, Rachel is about to move across the world, and Ross seems completely unaffected by the fact that he will see his daughter...what...once or twice a year at the most? They mention it once in passing as if to get it out of the way and then focus completely on how sad it is that Ross will never see Rachel again. Pathetic.
Well, considering the amount of time he seems to spend with his other kid... :p

Good ep, I like it, I loved how they dealt with janice
It was funny, but wasn't it basically the same way they dealt with Janice to make sure she didn't come to the wedding? It was well-acted, but they've done it.

No big deal - they wrote him out of the show as if he never existed.

Awesome episode.

The Estelle-calling-Joey-from-beyond was set up really well. Loved Phoebe's impression, and Joey's desire to NOT have Estelle come to his house.

Chandler's reaction to hearing "Oh My God" was classic. He just looked at Monica and said "Sure." Cracked me up.

And once again we get classic Ross making situations worse while trying to do the right thing. Pathetic and hilarious at the same time.

Just a great episode all around.

Yep, that's pretty much the way I felt about this one. Lots of good stuff all around. I think the show has run its course, but it still has the ability to make you laugh out loud.

Ted The Bug 04-23-04 09:24 AM

I agree completely Booth.

Pathetic.

Decent episode. I really just like Phoebe acting like Estelle.

Yeah WTF is up with that? Shouldn't we have seen a Ben meets Emma scene or something? Wacky sibling rivalry hijinks when Ben realizes he doesn't get all the attention? Whatever. Ben disappeared from the show LONG before Emma showed up.

Phobe as Estelle - priceless.

If you guys hate the show so much, and come on here and complain every week, why do you watch it?

I, for one, LOVE Friends. I will miss them when they're gone :( I thought the episode was great. Goofy Ross, dumb Joey, hilarious Phoebe, airhead Rachael, comical Chandler, and annoying Monica - just like its always been.

So true. But I've gotten used to it. It's an inevability. Kinda like jacolytes crapping on a Star Wars thread, you can count on those who HATE Friends to be in the discussion threads weekly to play their broken record.

I'll miss the show as well. I loved the opening scene continued from the last new episode. Chandler's one-liners were hilarious.

Although it doesn't apply to me (because I don't hate the show): I would want to see something through to the end after investing nearly a decade in it.

See, I don't watch television I don't like, even if I've invested in it.

Just seems like a colossal waste of time.

ChrisHicks 04-23-04 12:31 PM

there were kids on this show?

QuikSilver 04-23-04 03:45 PM

I thought last night's episode was mediocore. I was just glad to see a new episode. On a positive note, glad to see Janice for one last time. And I must say that Courtney Cox totally looks pregnant now.

kevin75 04-23-04 06:17 PM

just out of curiosity, what did they vote as the best episode?

I think it was The One With the Prom Video. Good episode, years before they beat the flashback gag into the ground like a railroad spike.

watching one extra show a week is hardly a colossal waste :p

I've been watching friends a long time and used to love the show. I still watch it because I keep hoping that they'll bring back some of the orginal spark and I would like to see the ending played out. I don't feel like I'm wasting my time and I see no reason to feel badly about posting what I think of the show.

Why should people come in and post every week that they still love the show? Is that information any more meaningful because it's positive? There's no reason why everyone shouldn't come in and express their opinion.

obviously I didn't enjoy the episode- while it's still better than plenty of other shows the jokes are getting stale and there didn't seem to be much worth laughing at. I'm not going to say that I won't miss it when it's gone, but I won't be nearly as concerned about it as I would have been if the show had gone off the air several years ago.

Boot 04-25-04 11:08 AM

I propose a new rule for TVTalk beginning today. From now on, nobody is allowed to post a criticism of a show, regardless of whether it's warranted or not. Just shiny, happy posts from now on people. Yayyyyyyy...

GuessWho 04-25-04 11:48 AM

From now on:

THE FIRST POST OF ANY TV THREAD must only contain the phrase"I liked this episode!"

ALL REPLIES IN ANY TV THREAD, must only contain the phrase "Me too!"

Kal-El 04-25-04 07:07 PM

What a bunch of whiner-haters.

It's not about posting that you dislike the show. It's the WEEKLY broken record of "this show sucks. should've ended at season 6" kind of post. Like Draven said, if for YOU, it should've ended at season 6, what the hell are you doing watching the show still? that's around 60 plus episodes that you sat thru all these four years to "see if the ol' spark'll come back"? THAT'S the colossal waste of time I think he's talking about.

kantonburg 04-25-04 07:11 PM

Don't hate the playa hate the show!

nightwing82 04-25-04 11:32 PM

The ep ruled, especially Phoebe as Estelle.

Only 2 more weeks of Friends left :( :( :(

I agree. It isn't about once or twice saying it sucked, it is the SOS week in week out. You hate the show, watch it anyway to see if it validates your already made up mind and proceed to post your exact same comments from the prior weeks. It provides nothing for the discussion.

But anyway, I thought it was solid from beginning to end. All three plotlines were great. The only thing that did get me was re-using the same plot device to get rid of Janice that they used in season 7.

SBatL8y 04-27-04 03:36 PM

I thought it was funny how Chandler thought up how to get rid of Janice this time instead of Monica.

Ben wasn't even at Emma's first birthday party. Remember how mad Rachel was because everyone else was late? Ben wasn't even there!!!
