Tarantino directs Jimmy Kimmel

It just started with Steven Wright giving Kimmel the five fingered death attack.

LBCrazyFool 04-20-04 11:15 PM

Watching it right now. This shit is pretty funny.

nny 04-20-04 11:20 PM

Last night Jimmy told Tarantino he should come back tonight and direct the show, but I had no idea it would actually happen.

nny 04-20-04 11:39 PM

"And it wasn't the good glowing finger either, it was the bad finger."

It's cool that they're trying the nonlinear thing, but the Wright interview sucked. I've loved everything else though.

GuessWho 04-20-04 11:42 PM

Show starts in about half an hour here... I get it delayed an hour so ABC can show a rerun of earlier today's Oprah first :(

Rogue588 04-20-04 11:48 PM

Last nite, they took the audience [whom each got a copy of Kill Bill on DVD] to see Kill Bill v2 after the show was done taping.

Rogue588 04-20-04 11:49 PM

Laura Harring

whotony 04-20-04 11:53 PM

well i hope someone posts when it gets rerun i forgot all about this.

whotony 04-20-04 11:56 PM

that is wild.

RichC2 04-21-04 12:02 AM

That.. was really funny.

Slow Clap.

Bloodiest. Episode. Ever.

whotony 04-21-04 12:06 AM

at the end in the credits it said directed by keith trusdaull or a name like that.

was it directed by tarentino or not?

nny 04-21-04 12:08 AM

I imagine it was co-directed. I'm sure directing a talk-show, especially a live talk-show, is pretty different from what Tarantino's used to.

I've also heard that Tarantino isn't part of the director's guild. Maybe that affected the credits.

El Scorcho 04-21-04 12:15 AM

I love Kimmel's show. Fresh things like this make him fun to watch.

OT:

Was a band called "The Darkness" on that night? They were on LoveLine Sunday and Adam Carrola mentioned they were doing Kimmel and would get to see KB2 after the show, not that they seemed to care that much.

It was a very interesting appearance on LoveLine because about 30 minutes into the show they take their first question for the band, who had been pretty quiet once they started taking calls. The chick on the phone is all "I love you, your the best band in the world..." and she asks them if they are recording a new album and what there plans are as far as touring.

One of the bandmembers answers in a very disinterested tone saying "Thanks..um we're going to finish our tour here and then come back in June... and we're recording for the next album, you know the normal stuff....And I just want to say that you will not hear us after the break because we're going to bow out and leave, we were kinda mislead about what this show is about. We thought it would be about "The Darkness" and our music and, you know, we don't feel qualified to answer these types of questions" referring to the sexual/relationship questions.

Adam and Dr. Drew both said it was fine and they understood, because they had take a few heavy/tough calls, and after the break they were gone. A couple of breaks later they kinda ripped into the band slightly; Adam said "I was just looking over The Darkness's press sheet, the band that left earlier tonight because they though the show would be all about them, and it started with 'In a world filled with self-important bands...' " and Drew said "Oh, they must mean those self important bands like System of the Down, who come here and humbly give their time to help kids out...". Drew was kinda pissed because he really thinks that having pop-culture guests on help attract the kids and gets them to listen to the messages. Adam couldn't careless, because not have a guest just gives him more time to talk and less stuff to do.

RichC2 04-21-04 01:40 AM

The Darkness was on tonight's ep of Kimmel, and that's pretty shitty.

wmansir 04-21-04 02:13 AM

I wanted to add that the band wasn't entirely arrogant, they were mostly caught off guard. Which is understandable if you think a show is going to be about your music and they start taking calls from 15 year olds talking about molestation and eating disorders. When I said they were disinterested in the caller's band question, I was referring to the fact that the guy was thinking about bailing and sounded distracted in his answer. They were very apologetic about leaving, but it was kinda a classless move.

They were scheduled to take a break anyway, Adam just wanted to slip a band question in first. Then they were going to come back and play their song. It would have been much better for them to make their problem known during the break and then stay for the song, by that time it would have been near the end of the first hour where they could have bailed without anyone thinking twice, since guests often only stay for the first hour.

Jackskeleton 04-21-04 03:00 AM

The Darkness sucks. Plain and simple. Plenty of other musical guest who have no training in the field that adam and drew work in have had no problem to plug there cd while helping out and hearing calls. the way the darkness puts it they just wanted to plug and leave. Was the name of the show LOVE LINE not an indication of what the show would be about or did they figure that it was the "Love Darkness Line"

the band blows.

Rypro 525 04-21-04 09:50 AM

they were on leno the night before, and they kicked ass

El Scorcho 04-21-04 10:33 AM

Darkness:

14:57, 14:58, 14:59...

mmconhea 04-21-04 11:03 AM

The Darkness is a great band. Just because they blew off a show that answers anal sex questions every night doesn't show anything bad about them.

xDareDevilx 04-21-04 11:11 AM

this episode was hilarious. The re-enactments of scenes from his movies were not funny and mostly very very dumb and even sad. But Tarantino telling Jimmy to ask Laura about the #1 movie was gold. His outro at the end ruled too. I lauged multiple times out loud during this episode. he tried to make different camera shots all cinematic and stuff too.

JoeyOhhhh 04-21-04 11:16 AM

I caught this thread last night, and the when the viewing guide said The Darkness was on, I said "Great, Charlie Murphy is on Kimmel tonight"

I was so disappointed.

mikewendt 04-21-04 12:22 PM

I dug the episode... The Jimmy/Wright fight was funny... And the ending was f//king hysterical... Especially when a woman playing dead started to chuckle during the slow clap and Quentin yelled, "Shut up!"

Rypro 525 04-21-04 02:21 PM

damn, i missed it (is tarantino the guest host?)

That was Laura that did that. And during the clap, she and Quentin kept going on back & forth about the Punisher v Kill Bill. Quentin's last response was something like "On airplanes maybe...".

Yep. Can't believe TV Talk dropped the ball on this.

For shame. -ohbfrank-
