The Practice 4/18/04
I am amazed at the breakneck speed the old firm is being left behind to springboard the new show at Denny Crane's firm. Most of the new firm's cast was introduced in this episode, and the "corpse" isn't even buried yet, though it's pretty cold.
Though Alan Shore didn't get much screen time, all of his scenes were golden, but the new cast just has a strange dynamic that seems to overshadow Shore. Looks like Lake Bell has jumped ship on "Miss Match" this Denny's law firm, so I guess we can put a fork in that show. The addition of Rebecca Demornay and Gina Gershon to the Crane lawfirm should be interesting, though I wasn't buying Demornay as a top-flight attorney from the onset. |
I'm not sure how long Gershon is going to be on here since she signed on for a comedy pilot a while back.
The Shatner/Spader scenes are great. I'm not sure how well Demornay's character is going to fit in. I was surprised too how little screen time the old firm is getting. |
"Mother!"

Gina, Gina, Gina
 |
Man, this one had a high babe factor. Rebecca DeMornay is still looking awesome. I loved her character - I hope she is part of the new series.
|
I dunno, I thought DeMornay was looking a bit on the old side (look at the lines around her neck) and had so much make-up on (HD is unforgiving in these instances).
Lake Bell isn't all that great an actress, but her other assets on display made up for any lack in the dramatic area. |
Excellent episode. I'm digging the additon of Gina Gerson and Rebecca de Mornay. Both looking very nice.
They are really limiting the screen time of the old practice members now. Yeesh. You'd think that "The practice" had originally started with Denny Crane's firm. "What are you doing in my office, dad?" I just love the banter between Shore and Crane. Great stuff. |
"I almost had you for a minute there..."
|
I try not to watch too much TV and I was at a friend's place and watched this, my first 'Practice' episode ever. I thought it was excellent - has it always been this good?
|
You're seeing the transition episode from the old "the practice" and a new law show revolving around Denny Crane's law firm.
|
The funny thing is that David Kelley is now one of only 3 men who have figured out the ideal characters for William Shatner's 'method' of acting btwn Captain Kirk, TJ Hooker, and Denny Crane.
|
it was better than last night in the past, but the last few seasons have been so so
|
I just began watching The Practice this season, and never really cared for the rest of the firm, just Shore and his antics. I think I'll like the new Crane series, and am now on year 9 pining for the most beautiful of beautiful, sexiest of sexy, etc etc Gina freaking Gershon. *deep sigh*
The moments with Shore and Denny were great, as well as the grief of conscience from from Rebecca at the end. |
Ahh, they read my mind: a scene between Garak and Kirk. ;)
"Osama, pull Saddam, pull Kerry, pull" |
The Spader/Shatner scenes are great, but this storyline has already been done... Go back a few seasons to the lawyer who was one of Bobby's idols....
Also the addition of DeMornay and Gershon has promise, I hope Denny takes an exit soon. It will get old in a hurry. |
Rebecca de Mornay's character reminded me of a blond version of Lara Flynn Boyle's character.
I was confused at first that Lake Bell's character was a lawyer--I figured she was a secretary. I don't get all the lust for Lake Bell-- ever since she was on Miss Match I thought she was a butter face. She has a great body, but something about her face seems really "harsh". Loved seeing Garak and Gina Gershon. Glad to see the old firm slide to the background-- those characters are so dull now. |
